WHL: Wahl Leads Chiefs

Mitch Wahl (2008), C, Spokane
Shows very good speed and has a good lateral wide skating stride .. strong on the puck and is hard to knock off the puck especially when cycling down low along the wall .. nice passer who controls the puck .. has got great vision and sees the ice very well .. boasts a hard shot, but he needs to work on the control and accuracy .. his size and strength allow him to get into the corners and come up with the puck with his tenacious forchecking .. picks up his check in the defensive zone and doesn't let him get quality scoring chances as he is a very good two-way player .. a very good team player .. finishes his checks .. has a great transition game .. battles hard in all three zones. Jace Coyle (2008), D, Spokane
Pretty good skater, can show you a move or two when carrying the puck through the neutral zone .. pivots well when backskating and positions himself accordingly .. displays poise moving the puck out of the defensive zone .. passes from his own zone are accurate most of the time .. he's got a good shot, but should utilize it more when on the power-play or when pinching from the point .. keeps his shots low and on target .. handles one on one battles .. keeps opposing players guessing as to where he's going to play the puck for the next play .. protects the puck well .. sports good anticipation and mobility .. blocks shots and battles hard with opposing players in front of the net .. doesn't take unnecessary penalties .. competes hard and is an important big cog on the Spokane defense .. knows where he has to be defensively .. can jump into the play very quickly on turnovers .. won't take chances when it could result in him being caught up ice. Dustin Tokarski (2008), G, Spokane
Native of Watson, Saskatchewan just missed being eligible for the 2007 draft by a day .. moves post to post very well .. makes the tough saves through traffic and generally controls rebounds very well .. shares the netminding duties with veteran Kevin Armstrong .. currently leads the Western Hockey League in goaltending with a sparkling 1.84 goals against average and is near the top with a 0.924 save percentage .. one of the best draft eligible goalies coming out of the WHL in this year's draft. Jared Spurgeon (2008), D, Spokane
Boasts good mobility and skates very well .. always looks to make a pass .. solid two-way defenseman .. strong skater, but needs to add some muscle to his approximately 5-foot-9, 170-pound frame .. shows defensive awareness .. has great poise and positioning for such a young blueliner .. supports his defensive partner with good hockey instincts… might be an early third or fourth round pick.
