WHL: The Wright Stuff

James Wright (2008), C, Vancouver
Had a very poor performance at the Top Prospect's game in January which was probably the result of a recently diagnosed bout of mono which has him on the sidelines .. runs out of gas after about 35-40 seconds and thus should avoid longer shifts .. has a chance to be a solid third liner in the NHL, but is not a first round selection .. looks pretty good centering the line of Lance Bouma and Spencer Machacek .. sees time on both special teams .. has yet to prove he has elite hands even at the major junior level .. puts himself in good areas at the right time to score, but as noted earlier isn't always able to take advantage of his opportunities .. far from a flashy pivot and most scouts would like to see more fire to his game. Garry Nunn (2008), RW, Vancouver
Has gelled on a line with Pierro-Zabotel and Evander Kane .. sees time on both the powerplay and penalty-kill .. is extremely mobile and has blazing speed .. gets in quickly on the puckcarrier .. although not a physical threat in any way, he will finish his checks .. displays some sandpaper to his game .. looks for his linemates and boasts the vision to find them .. takes the pass and returns it smoothly with speed .. some question if he has the strength to power through heavier traffic while being able to maintain velocity .. opportunistic on recovering turnovers .. played the point on powerplay .. generally finds the man at the right time .. although has made a fairly smooth adjustment to the WHL, he would have been better served going the NCAA route. Lance Bouma (2008), LW, Vancouver
Solid two-way forward is at his best when finishing his checks with some desire .. doesn't sport much imagination with the puck .. has the speed to get open on the occasional breakaway, but lacks game-breaking ability .. is much more of an energy player that likes to muck about in the dirty areas .. sees time on the powerplay .. generally gives an honest effort on most shifts and has proven to be very dependable this season playing in all 60 games so far .. sees some time on the penalty-kill .. might have a chance to be selected late this coming draft. (60gp, 11-22-33)
James Henry (2009), C, Vancouver
Scored his first ever Western Hockey League goal December 15th, 2007 .. as part of Team West won a bronze medal at the 2008 U17 World Hockey Challenge in London, Ontario .. didn't look out of place centering an energy line of Garet Hunt and Craig Cunningham .. definitely needs to add some size as he is currently listed at 5-foot-8, 180-pounds .. not a physical force by any means, but doesn't shy away from finishing his checks .. protects the puck pretty well .. got some time on the penalty-kill .. boasts some zip to his wrist shot.

Stefan Schneider (2008), D, Vancouver
Boasts great size, although still has room to add some muscle to his 6-foot-4, 200-pound frame .. can look a tad lost and often shows his inexperience and lack of ability to read the play .. will pinch in from the point to pressure the puck .. remains a nonfactor in the offensive zone due to a lack of vision or shooting prowess .. it would be a bit harsh to state he skates like Bambi, yet it isn't a stretch to say that skating is far from a strength .. not surprisingly lacks mobility and gets exposed when he has to make a quick turn .. must make certain he ties up his man one-on-one and not get caught fishing for the puck .. currently sees a limited role.
