WHL: Spokanes Big Four

Jared Cowen (2009), D, Spokane
Gigantic, rugged defender flaunts his 6-foot-5, 220-pound frame .. takes and gives the pass well .. splendid skater, especially for his size .. generally exhibits a high panic threshold .. sports a heavy slap shot from the point that he loves to unload .. takes the body effectively and is an intimidating force in the dirty areas .. moves the puck crisply and on the tape to his teammates .. makes it extremely difficult for opponents to take him on one-on-one, thanks to his above average aggressiveness, mobility and active stick .. commendable hand-eye coordination and uses his stick to swallow up loose pucks .. the opposition better know where he's on the ice and not get caught in his area with their head down .. usually stays with his man, although can get caught up trying to do too much and get caught out of position .. demonstrates the ability to rush the puck up the ice or dish out a quick breakout pass to an open teammate .. is already counted on to log quality minutes in all situations. Mitch Wahl (Cgy), C, Spokane
After a terrific playoff run where he produced offensively the Calgary Flames' draft pick is started off on fire .. solid two-way center is very mobile and light on his skates .. still could get a tad stronger on the puck, although he's improved in this area since last season .. showing more imagination as a playmaker .. solid in his own zone and is rarely out of position .. boasts the speed to win one-on-one races for loose pucks .. will go to the net and is sporting more desire to get his nose bloodied in the dirty areas .. closes down time and space on the puckcarrier and is always a threat to force a turnover .. should easily eclipse the 20 goals he chipped in last season as he has softer hands than he's often given credit for .. a mainstay on both special teams .. displays great chemistry with Drayson Bowman. (5gp, 4-4-8)
Dustin Tokarski (TB), G, Spokane
Very good about not over committing which allows him to be in position after a deflection .. does a nice job pushing the rebounds to the corners and out of harm's way .. generally comes across the crease quickly, yet all the while staying square to the puck .. very economical in his movements and rarely flops around like a fish out of water .. not very fancy, instead allows the puck to come to him which it does thanks to his above average positioning .. should have a great opportunity to get back to the Memorial Cup as the Chiefs have arguably even a better team than last season. (4gp, GAA 1.25, Sv% 0.965)
Drayson Bowman (Car), LW, Spokane
Selected by the Carolina Hurricanes in the third round (72nd overall) of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft .. a real smart player that is crafty with the puck and is always dangerous in the scoring areas .. wears an A .. is one of the key cogs on a terrific Spokane team .. effective at pressuring the puckcarrier .. very swift skater, with splendid mobility and anticipation skills .. does a nice job reading the play and intercepting pucks, making him a dangerous penalty-killer .. has developed splendid chemistry on the top line with Mitch Wahl.
