WHL: Sleepless in Seattle

Brenden Dillon (2009), D, Seattle
Lanky looking defender still has room on his 6-foot-2, 200-pound frame to add some muscle .. more of a defensive defenceman at this stage of his development .. stands up the puckcarrier well at the blueline .. reveals a swift long stride and is able to get back quickly if there's a turnover .. demonstrates the ability to deliver bone jarring hits along the wall when given an opportunity .. reads the play well and has quick feet to play the man .. possesses fairly good acceleration, but doesn't have the breakaway speed or skillset to go end-to-end on a consistent basis .. sports a nice awareness of the opposition around him .. uses his long reach to assist him in trying to force puckcarriers to the outside .. has some sandpaper to his game and uses his size reasonably well, but is still developing a mean streak that will make the opposition think twice about going in to his area .. plays on both special teams .. partnered with Stefan Warg .. generally does a solid job marking his man and seems poised for his age .. doesn't look out of place at this level and will get plenty of icetime on a poor Seattle team .. has the overall tools, but confidence may take a hit as he's already brandishing a team worst -9 after only five games. Brenden Silvester (2009), C, Seattle
The Port Coquitlam native is a solid 5-foot-11, 200-pounds .. closes the gap quickly on the forecheck .. has some offensive imagination that belies his goose egg in points .. boasts a quick stick that he can use to create turnovers .. has the overall skating ability to take the puck to the net when he gets a chance .. centered a fourth line of Erik Fleming and Spencer Edwards .. so far has yet to show the determination and work ethic on a consistent basis that will take his play to the next level .. may need a fresh start somewhere else if he doesn't get on track soon. (4gp, 0-0-0)
Sena Acolatse (2009), D, Seattle
Chosen by the Thunderbirds in the fourth round (76th overall) of the 2005 WHL Bantam Draft .. displays some vision at the point on the powerplay .. not surprising is solid on his skates and hard to knock off the puck given his 5-foot-11, 220-pound frame .. needs to use better judgement on where he sends the breakout pass and not force it in to traffic .. will pinch in from the point .. uses his stick to close down passing lanes and boasts terrific hand-eye coordination .. can be a tad lackadaisical in front, should play with more grit and not allow the opposition such easy access to prime scoring areas .. partnered with Steve Chaffin .. plays on both special teams .. knows how to chuck the knuckles and will stand up for himself. Jeremy Boyer (2009), C, Seattle
Selected by Seattle in the second round (36th overall) of the 2005 WHL Bantam Draft .. could use a better burst out of the blocks and his overall skating is average at best .. pretty nice hand-eye coordination and will go to the net without the puck .. looks much bigger than what the WHL website lists him at (5-foot-11, 152-pounds) .. works his tail off without the puck and keeps working no matter what the score .. as mentioned is not the fleetest of foot, but is still able to put some pressure on the puckcarrier thanks to sheer determination .. wears an A .. plays on both special teams and has already shown an ability to provide much needed offense to a young team .. played on a line with Devon LeBlanc and centered by Lindsay Nielsen.
