Selected by the Wheat Kings in the third round (50th overall) in the 2006 WHL Bantam Draft .. large bodied defender is actually fairly mobile .. boasts a pretty good first few steps and closes the gaps on the puckcarrier quite quickly .. has very good size at 6-foot-3, 195-pounds .. takes a pass reasonably smoothly as well as delivering a decent first pass to start a rush .. tends to wander out of position as he can become overly fixated on the puck .. displays some feistiness .. sports the courage and technique to drop down to block a shot effectively .. can plaster an unsuspecting opponent along the wall .. a regular on the penalty kill .. partners with Chad Erb. Brayden Schenn (2009), C, Brandon
Chosen in the first round (9th overall) in the 2006 WHL Bantam Draft .. blessed with quick feet and good mobility .. boasts a heavy shot .. is a nifty stickhandler and thus is able to clear space and dish an accurate first pass to clear the zone .. sports nice vision and has the ability to pick the corners with amazing accuracy and a lethal release .. possesses a goal scorer's patience when near the net .. like most players, is prone to mistakes when he's tired .. centers the top line of Scott Glennie and Matt Calvert .. wears an A .. is a regular on both special teams .. although not huge at 6-foot-0, 190-pounds, he still does a nice job using his body to protect the puck in the dirty areas .. ranked third by central scouting in their preliminary rankings .. invited to the WJC selection camp for Team Canada, but ultimately was cut. Selected with the Wheat Kings' second round pick (29th overall) in the 2006 WHL Bantam Draft .. boasts top end speed that backs off checkers through the neutral zone .. takes the pass crisply and moves the puck well .. uses his speed really effectively as he is able to put a lot of heat on the puckcarrier .. displays purpose as he darts towards the net with or without the puck .. plays on the first line with Matt Calvert and centered by Brayden Schenn .. boasts decent size at 6-foot-1, 180-pounds .. his speed and shiftiness sometimes forces the opposition to take penalties .. a regular on the powerplay .. ranked fourth by central scouting in their preliminary rankings .. leads all Brandon players in goals and points, but wasn't invited to the WJC selection camp for team Canada .. plays on the powerplay and the penalty-kill.
