WHL Report: Brandon Wheat Kings

The Brandon Wheat Kings are in the thick of things in the Western Hockey League's Eastern Conference. Despite losing the likes of Brayden Schenn, Matt Calvert, and Scott Glennie to the pros in recent years, they seem to have a team capable of making some noise in the playoffs. McKeen's correspondent Kelly Friesen has notes on several of their young prospects.
Tyrel Seaman (2012), C, Brandon

Seaman has shown vast improvements in his game from last season .. last year, he showed hardly any patience with the puck and was getting pushed around along boards .. this year, he's been throwing his weight around and making smarter decisions with the puck .. Seaman seems to have all the tools needed to be an excellent prospect .. the 6-foot-2, 207-pound centre is a strong skater, has a great work ethic, and is very coachable ..currently centering the Wheat Kings' third line and is getting icetime in all situations .. is a huge part of the Wheat Kings' immediate future with Mark Stone likely moving on to the Ottawa Senators organization next year .. could be a later round draft steal in 2012.
Corbin Boes (2012), G, Brandon
It was unclear whether Liam Liston or Corbin Boes would be the Wheat Kings' No.1 netminder this season .. however, after trading Liston to the Lethbridge Hurricanes, the Wheat Kings decided to go with Boes between the pipes .. Boes has yet to disappoint .. has posted a 9-2-1 record with a 2.57 goals-against average and .919 save percentage this season .. Boes' strongest selling-point is his 6-foot-3, 216-pound frame .. he's able to take up a lot of the net and give opponents little to shoot at .. being passed over in last year's draft, Boes will look for a second chance in the upcoming draft .. a telling point for him will be consistency .. last season, he struggled with it, and he must prove he can be consistent between the pipes.
Ryan Pulock (2013), D, Brandon
Pulock has been dynamite in his sophomore season .. has been quarterbacking the Wheat Kings' blueline in all situations .. on the powerplay, he's shown he has excellent poise and patience with a strong and accurate slapshot .. throughout 25 games, Pulock has scored an impressive eight goals and 27 points .. on five-on-five and the penalty kill, he's been matched up against other teams' best players .. has continued to play a positionally sound game and make smart plays against the leagues' top-talents .. Pulock seems to have what it takes to be a future top-five pick in the 2013 draft .. is Mr. Everything - a player a team could build their team around.
Eric Roy (2013), D, Brandon
Despite being overshadowed by Pulock's remarkable play, Roy has continued to impress on the Wheat Kings' back end .. like Pulock, Roy plays in all situations for the Wheat Kings .. has shined offensively, scoring four goals and 27 points in 26 games .. has also played a physical and positionally sound game in the defensive zone .. hard to believe he's only 17, as he plays like a junior hockey veteran .. similar to Pulock, Roy has early first round potential for the 2013 draft.
