WHL: Redenbach Finally Pops

Tyler Redenbach is almost a one man show having to almost go it along on a young Swift Current bereft of much offensive talent on the forward lines. We take a look at Redenbach and some of his Bronco' teammates from a recent game.
Matej Trojovsky (Car), D

Czech behemoth is an impressive physical specimen at 6'5 and 225lbs and seeing him in person it is easy to believe the dimensions .. his slap shot has a nice pop to it, although he needs to get it away quicker .. played on the penalty-kill .. wears the A .. leads the Broncos in penalty minutes .. moves the puck crisply and on target .. communicates well with his defensive partner, Myles Rumsey .. very solid on his skates .. does use his size and strength to intimidate and few puck carriers choose his side of the ice to come down .. hammered a youngster so badly in a fight with basically one punch, that the player needed to be helped off the ice .. he lacks elite quickness and first step acceleration, however his defensive positioning and strength make it hard for puck carriers to get past him .. forwards don't seem to want to hung around in the crease when Trojovsky is around.
David Schulz (Van), D
Surprisingly solid two-way defender has one of the hardest passers in the WHL .. partners with Jason Fransoo .. very fluid skater .. has a nice crisp breakout pass .. his wrist shot can cause goalies some problems due to the accuracy and the quickness in which he gets it away .. takes the pass at full tilt .. quick feet with excellent first step acceleration .. stays with his man .. takes a hit too make a play .. plays on the powerplay and penalty-killing units .. gets his shots through from the point and although they cause a rebounds, they aren't likely to overpower any goalie .. positionally sound and is effective at using his strength to clear the crease .. didn't close the gap on the player that was open in the face-off circle .. has an innate ability to move the puck quickly and on the tape .. doesn't try and force the puck in to traffic .. will pinch in from the point when the opportunity presents itself .. has decent offensive awareness.
Tyler Redenbach (Phx), LW
Talented offensive winger .. up until this game had gone 15 games without a goal .. played on a line with Luke Hunter and Barry Horman .. shot appears to be heavy .. uses his body to protect the puck .. supports the defense .. used elite vision to setup a line mate in the slot for a glorious scoring chance while killing a penalty ..like most elite players, he does have the ability to not only see the holes, but also to get there .. solid on his skates .. takes a ht to make a play .. riffled a shot from the slot and through a poorly positioned goalie .. his skating doesn't stand out, although he does get to the danger areas .. lacks an explosive extra gear .. wasn't tenacious enough picking up the puck carrier driving into the net .. selected the games' first star.
Michael Hengen (2006), D
Young blueliner will join the rush when he gets the chance .. played on a line with Donny Lloyd .. didn't release the puck quick enough on the powerplay and had it blocked at the point .. is developing in to a decent puck moving defenseman .. drove to the net to deflect a pass on goal .. thanks to the Bronco's coaching philosophy of rotating all their defensemen during penalty-kills, Hengen is gaining valuable experience in pressure situations .. plays on the powerplay .. failed to communicate with his partner and watched a puck split them and clear the zone and release the pressure that Swift Current had created .. needs to work on adding some muscle as he can be bodied off the puck a bit too easily.
Kyle Moir (Nsh), G
Selected the game's second star and got a shutout, although he looked shaky and looked ready to give up a goal with extended pressure .. made a nice stop on the doorstep, late in a penalty-kill .. had a little trouble handling a shoot in .. a high shot that changed direction gave him major problems .. needs to work on hanging on to the puck and swallow up rebounds and loose pucks .. was very lackadaisical behind his net and almost gave a wrap around goal .. never hesitated rushing out of his net to clear the puck out of his zone and away from the opposing player that would have had a clear path to the net .. came across quickly to take away the far corner on a player at the side of the net .. made a terrific save scrambling back in to net after a bad bounce went right out to the high slot.
