WHL: Portlands Macho Mucha

Lucas Alexiuk (2007), D, Portland
Was 235th in our March rankings .. needs to be much more aware of the location of his man .. should show more determination on his clearing attempts .. pretty strong taking the man in one-on-one battle .. can get caught chasing the puckcarrier .. a tad slow to react to developing plays .. saw time on the penalty-kill .. shows a willingness to move in from the point, although as his stats would suggest he has limited vision and finish .. his positioning is sometimes lacking .. his closing speed as well as burst out of the gates are fairly good .. doesn't always show the best judgment on when to jump up for a hit. Colton Sceviour (2007), C, Portland
Was 63rd overall in McKeen's Draft Rankings for March .. still was finding his stride after missing many games due to injury .. should add some muscle to take better advantage of his willingness to play in the dirty areas .. good hand-eye coordination and shows glimpses of developing a scoring touch that may see him in the 20-30 goal area next season .. lost more than his fair share of faceoffs .. a regular on the powerplay .. needs to keep his feet moving consistently .. uses his body effectively to protect the puck .. quite a smart player with solid leadership skills which makes him an obvious choice as the Winter Hawks' captain. Matt Betker (2007), RW, Portland
Fell out of the rankings in March after being 277 in the February Draft Digest .. boasts decent hand-eye coordination .. takes the body, although lacks the size or strength to be very effective at this stage of his development .. displays some spunk as well as solid puck pursuit .. goes to the net .. pretty nice snap to his wrist shot .. shows good overall speed, however doesn't overpower checkers .. saw a ton of ice time on a forward depleted team and time on both the PP and PK .. a tireless worker without the puck .. sports very little offensive skill, which isn't helpful when no part of your game stands out making him an unlikely canidate to be drafted this season. (64gp, 5-5-10)
Kurtis Mucha (2007), G, Portland
Has climbed all the way to 33rd in the March Draft Rankings even though he played on an awful Portland team this season .. showcases splendid reflexes with terrific agility .. the kind of goalie that is able to make the highlight reel save - which on many nights is the only way his team was able to salvage a point .. sometimes is forced to try to do more than he should have to, but he's on a really young team .. surprisingly relaxed and appeared to be enjoying himself .. the big question is will he still be a great goalie as his team improves?
