WHL Players of the Month - February

Calgary - The Western Hockey League today announced the Player of the Month for February in both the Eastern Conference and Western Conference.

In the Eastern Conference, which includes the Central and East Divisions, the Player of the Month is forward Joffrey Lupul of the Medicine Hat Tigers.
The 19-year-old from Edmonton, Alberta, scored 14 goals and 26 points in 14 games. He recorded three power-play goals, one short-handed goal, one game-winning goal and had six multiple-goal-games during the month.
Lupul was drafted in the first round, seventh overall in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft by the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim.
Western Conference
In the Western Conference, which includes the B.C. and U.S. Divisions, the Player of the Month is defenceman Tomas Mojzis of the Seattle Thunderbirds.
The 20-year-old from Pardubice, Czech Republic, scored eight goals and 22 points in 12 games. He recorded two power-play goals, two game-winning goals and was a plus 39 rating for the month. Mojzis recorded points in all 12 games in February.
Mojzis, drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft, was traded this season to the Vancouver Canucks and leads the WHL in scoring for defencemen with 67 points.
Joffrey Lupul and Tomas Mojzis are deserving choices as the Western Hockey League’s Players of the Month for February.
