WHL Player of the Week - Reid Gardiner

RAIDERS' GARDINER NAMED WHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Calgary, AB - The Western Hockey League announced today that Prince Albert Raiders forward Reid Gardiner has been named the WHL Player of the Week for the week ending October 4th, 2015.

Gardiner collected five points (3g-2a) in two games to help the Prince Albert Raiders earn a pair of victories this week.
On Friday, October 2nd against the Vancouver Giants, Gardiner recorded two points (1g-1a) and scored the shootout winner to lift the Raiders to a 5-4 win. The following night, Gardiner recorded another strong multiple point effort with three points (2g-1a) including the overtime winner to propel the Raiders to a 5-4 victory over the Medicine Hat Tigers. Gardiner was also named the game's first star on Saturday.
The 19-year-old Humboldt, SK native is currently tied for first in team scoring with eight points (4g-4a). The 5-11, 195 lb forward is in his fourth WHL campaign with Prince Albert. Gardiner has amassed 136 points (67g-69a) in 195 career WHL regular season contests.
The WHL has also nominated Coleman Vollrath of the Victoria Royals for the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week award. Vollrath, a 1995-born netminder from Calgary, AB, registered a 1.50 goals against average and a .944 save percentage in winning both of his starts. On Friday, October 2nd, Vollrath had a productive outing as he stopped 26 shots to lift Royals to a 4-2 win against the Kamloops Blazers. The following night, Vollrath turned aside 25 shots against the Blazers in a 5-1 win and claimed second star honours. Currently in his fourth season with the Royals, Vollrath has posted a 56-35-4-4 record with seven shutouts in 118 career WHL regular season appearances.
