WHL Player of the Week - Jon Martin

Calgary, AB - The Western Hockey League announced today that Swift Current Broncos forward Jon Martin has been named the WHL Player of the Week for the week ending October 18th, 2015.
Martin collected seven points (2g-5a) in three games for the Swift Current Broncos and recorded multiple point performances in all three contests.

On Tuesday, October 13th against the Edmonton Oil Kings, Martin had a solid performance in which he recorded three points (1g-2a) to lead the Broncos to a 4-2 victory. Martin was named the game's first star on Tuesday. On Friday, October 16th, Martin tallied a pair of assists in the Broncos 5-3 loss to the Brandon Wheat Kings. The following night, Martin had another strong performance on the score sheet as he collected two points (1g-1a) and claimed first star honours in the Broncos 5-3 loss to the Lethbridge Hurricanes.
The 20-year-old Winnipeg, MB native currently is tied for first in League scoring with 19 points (11g-8a). The 6-2, 218 lb forward is in his fifth WHL campaign and first with Swift Current after being acquired from Kootenay in early October. Martin has amassed 87 points (43g-44a) in 256 career WHL regular season contests.
The WHL has also nominated Ian Scott of the Prince Albert Raiders for the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week award. Scott, a 1999-born netminder from Calgary, AB, posted two wins to go along with a 0.60 goals against average and a .980 save percentage with one shutout. On Friday, October 16th, Scott came on in relief and stopped 17 of 18 shots against the Spokane Chiefs to guide the Raiders to a 7-4 win. The following night, Scott had a productive outing as he turned aside all 33 shots he faced to lift the Raiders to a 1-0 win against the Kootenay ICE. Scott was named the game's second star on Saturday. Currently in his first season with the Raiders, Scott has posted a 4-1-0-0 record with one shutout in six career WHL regular season appearances.
