WHL Player of the Week - Jayce Hawryluk

CALGARY, AB - The Western Hockey League announced today that Brandon Wheat Kings forward Jayce Hawryluk is the Denny's WHL Player of the Week for the week ending February 22nd, 2015.
Hawryluk collected seven points (5g-2a) while posting a plus-four rating in two games over the past week for the Wheat Kings.

After an extended absence due to injury, Hawryluk returned to the lineup on Friday, February 20th against the Prince Albert Raiders. Hawryluk notched his second hat trick of the season, scoring three goals in a 6-4 loss to the Raiders while earning second star honours. The following night, Hawryluk registered a four point performance (2g-2a) against the Saskatoon Blades in a 7-3 victory while also claiming the game's first star.
A 19-year-old Roblin, Manitoba native, Hawryluk has gathered 54 points (24g-30a) along with a plus-31 rating in 42 games so far this season. The 5'10", 197 lb forward is in his third WHL campaign with Brandon. Hawryluk has amassed 161 points (66g-95a) in 162 career WHL regular season contests and was selected 32nd overall by the Florida Panthers in the 2014 NHL Draft.
The WHL has also nominated Wyatt Hoflin of the Kootenay Ice for the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week award. Hoflin, a 1995-born netminder from Spruce Grove, AB, registered a 1.00 goals against average and a .968 save percentage, including one shutout, while winning all three of his starts. On Tuesday, February 17th, Hoflin turned aside 17 shots to earn a 5-2 win over the Lethbridge Hurricanes. On Friday, February 20th, Hoflin stopped 46 of 47 shots against the Edmonton Oil Kings in a 4-1 victory while claiming first star honours. The following night, Hoflin turned aside all 29 shots he faced to lift the Ice to a 5-0 shutout against the Spokane Chiefs and again earned first star honours. Currently in his third campaign in the WHL, Hoflin has posted a 41-41-1-2 record with three shutouts in 98 career WHL regular season appearances.
