WHL Player of the Week

Calgary - The Greyhound WHL Player of the Week is goaltender Cam Ward of the Red Deer Rebels. Ward earned player of the week honours by recording a 1.66 goals against average and a 0.940 save percentage in three road wins in three games during the week of December 1st to December 7th. Ward helped lead the Rebels to a perfect 3-0 record for the week.
On Wednesday, December 3rd, Ward recorded 23 saves in a 3-2 victory over the Wheat Kings in Brandon.

On Friday, December 5th, Ward made 19 saves in a 3-2 overtime road win against the Regina Pats. On Saturday, December 6th, Ward stopped 36 shots in a 2-1 victory over the Raiders in Prince Albert.
Ward, a 19-year-old from Sherwood Park, Alberta, was drafted by the Carolina Hurricanes in the first round of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.
