WHL: Off The Wahl

Jared Spurgeon (2008), D, Spokane
Delivers nice headman passes to clear the zone .. uses his limited size well .. is quite effective separating the puck carrier from the puck with his quick stick .. dishes out crisp passes .. displays poise and vision with the puck .. communicates with his teammates and generally shows leadership .. regular on both special teams .. boasts the overall speed to get back in the play if he misses on a gamble .. has the ability to elude the forecheck and bring the puck up the ice .. can get outmuscled in front of the net due to his lack of strength .. will take a hit to make a play, however usually is able to avoid the big hit .. plays the one-on-one effectively. (34gp, 5-16-21)

Mike Reddington (2008), D, Spokane
Has some physicality to his game and will jump up to deliver a hit .. communicates well with his defensive partner .. tends to wander in his own zone .. likes to take the man .. does a nice job closing the gap on the puckcarrier .. not opposed to the occasional face wash .. does a nice job protecting the puck along the wall .. is a good overall skater, but lacks the top end of speed to go end to end. (35gp, 1-3-4)
Jace Coyle (2008), D, Spokane
Displays a little hesitancy retrieving the puck in traffic .. boast very good speed and puckhandling skills bringing the puck up the ice .. will join the rush and even pinch in from the point .. has a quick, if not quite an over powering shot .. did see a bit of time on the PK and PP .. needs to improve his defensive coverage as well as getting the puck out of his zone under heavy pressure. (32gp, 1-6-7)
Tyler Johnson (2008), C, Spokane
Generally does a nice job cutting down time and space on the puckcarrier by using his above average speed & mobility .. needs to get stronger on his skates as he can get bumped off the puck a bit too easily .. very mobile with the puck .. like many smaller players, 5-foot-9, 165-pounds, is more effective when he has room .. an effective penalty killer as he does a solid job pressuring the pointman and closing down the passing and shooting lanes .. usually does a nice job holding up the opponent when he wins a draw .. sees time on the powerplay. (34gp, 6-9-15)
Mitch Wahl (2008), C, Spokane
Supports the puck well .. generally keeps his game pretty simple .. will take a hit to make a play .. has good jets out of the blocks, which helps him put pressure on the pointman .. generally moves the puck quickly and on target .. not flashy, however always seems to be around the puck .. takes the body, yet isn't physically imposing .. plays on the powerplay .. a smart, defensively dependable pivot whom is rarely out of position anywhere on the ice .. lacks elite breakaway speed .. type of player that coaches would love. (34gp, 11-33-44)
