WHL: No Lamenting Lammers

Kris Versteeg (2004), RW
Shifty, smooth skating winger .. on the powerplay .. made a nice heads up pass from the corner to a trailing forward in the slot for a quality scoring chance .. comes back deep to support the defense .. active forechecker, but doesn’t get very involved physically .. he has the speed and stickhandling ability to beat a defender one on one .. backed up a defender when the latter pinched in .. can get over matched in the faceoff circle.

John Lammers (2004), LW
Picked up his man in the defensive zone .. on the second half of the powerplay .. has a dangerous wrist shot that he gets away quickly .. mobile skater gets a good burst from his first few strides .. got the puck on the doorstep of the crease and scored a goal on a move that had the goaltender grasping at air .. incredible stickhandler, especially in tight .. will take a hit make a play .. excellent vision and typically places the puck right on the tape .. needs to continue to get stronger, but already has an impressive skill set .. closes down time and space on the forecheck .. on his second goal of the game he did a spin move and went from backhand to forehand through a couple of defenders and then roofed it for one of the prettiest goals of the season in the WHL .. selected the game’s second star.
Brent Seabrook (Chi), D
Wears the C .. smooth skating, puck rushing blueliner .. knocked an opponent down hard behind the Hurricane’s net .. a mainstay on the penalty-kill and quarterbacks the powerplay .. has an active stick to close passing lanes .. will take a hit to make a play and is so solid on his skates that it is hard to knock him off the puck .. extremely poised with excellent leadership skills .. receives quality ice time and rarely is off the ice .. smartly broke up a two-on-one .. passes the puck crisply and on the tape.
Colton Yellow Horn (2005), LW
Mighty, might forward that looks out of place at first glance given his stature, but is solidly built .. shifty and strong on his skates .. could develop in to an energy forward .. uses his low center of gravity to his benefit .. plays with grit and isn’t opposed to laying the stick across the back of a player’s legs or giving an opponent a punch in the head after the whistle .. initiates contact and travels in to high traffic areas .. defensively conscientious, although he lacks the strength to be very effective with a large bodied forward .. works hard on most shifts.
