WHL: Fleischmann is Capital Investment

Aaron Rome (LA), D
Wears the A .. started the season with Swift Current, but was acquired by Moose Jaw as part of a five player trade .. has a heavy wrist shot .. impressive slap shot that can handcuff a goalie from the point .. partnered with Atlanta Trashers' draftee Lane Manson to start the game .. plays with confidence and poise .. good hand-eye coordination .. smartly took a bit off his point shot so it might be tipped .. on the penalty-kill and power play .. gets a ton of quality ice time .. uses an active stick to shutdown passing lanes .. allowed a penalty-killer to slip in behind him and get a breakaway .. effortless skater and is comfortable rushing with the puck .. must be careful not to get caught watching the play .. received a two minute checking from behind PIM .. has a cannon for a slap shot.

Dustin Boyd (2004), C
Mobile, slick skating center .. his shot is heavy .. took an obstruction hooking PIM .. comes all the way back to support the defense .. wins the majority of the faceoffs he takes .. excellent acceleration as he can get up to full speed in only a few strides .. gets his body behind most of his hits .. aggressive checker .. on the power play .. missed the open player in front of the net with a pass .. pretty strong on his skates, especially when he gets down low .. looked for holes and has the speed to get there .. drew a penalty late in the third period trailing by two goals.
Tomas Fleischmann (Wsh), LW
His NHL rights were recently acquired by the Washington Capitals as part of the Robert Lang trade .. explosive slap shot that is dangerous anywhere in the offensive zone .. played on line with Kyle Brodziak and Troy Brouwer .. receives a ton of ice time on both special teams .. a beautiful skater, with a strong and graceful stride .. has a bit of an edge to his game .. willing to fight through traffic and displays the grit it takes to score the dirty goals .. gets a quick burst from his first few steps .. has excellent vision .. has elite pro written all over him .. is a quality play maker .. put a crisp long pass right on the tape of a teammate getting in the clear.
Kyle Brodziak (Edm), C
Wears the C .. silky smooth hands and is equally adept on the forehand or backhand .. played on a line with Thomas Fleischmann and Troy Brouwer .. uses his speed to cut down space and time for the puck carrier .. on the PK and PP .. goes to the holes .. willing to pay the price in traffic .. top end speed and acceleration .. can get a little too fancy and over handle the puck, but generally is quite effective .. strong on the draw and ties up the other center .. got robbed on the door step.
Mike Brodeur (Chi), G
Stayed square to the shooter and kept compact to not allow any point shots to slip through .. not afraid to control the pace of the game by freezing the puck .. overplayed the shooter and was extremely fortunate that the pass to the open forward was off target .. usually steers rebounds in the corner or up in to the netting .. generally handles the puck well and is able to put some mustard on his clearing attempts .. allowed a shorthanded breakaway goal .. needs to work on his recovery speed as he is a little slow to get back on his feet .. gave up a juicy rebound in the slot off a weak shot, but nothing came of it.
Troy Brouwer (2004), RW
Wears an A .. can pick the corners with his impressive wrist shot .. hard slapshot .. on the second part of a PK .. beat a checker with a nice deke .. good acceleration and keeps his feet moving on contact .. knocked a loose puck away from a player with a wide open chance on the powerplay .. has some imagination in the offensive zone .. displays an upside that could make him a bit of a sleeper pick in the middle to late rounds .. takes a hit to make a play .. mostly played with Kyle Brodziak and Tomas Fleischmann, although did receive some time on the other lines .. carelessly got an interference penalty for taking out the goalie as the play was leaving the offensive zone .. displays very good hand-eye coordination, especially with regards to deflections .. quite effective at parking himself in front of the crease as a screen or banging home loose pucks.
Ashton Rome (2004), RW
On the last part of a penalty-kill .. doesn't show a lot of offensive imagination .. looked like he bailed out on a play due to hearing footsteps .. on the powerplay .. turned over the puck when physically pressured .. not overly aggressive, but dished out a few solid body checks along the wall.
