WHL: Elliott Makes Cut

Stefan Elliott (2009), D, Saskatoon
Chosen by the Prince George Cougars in the first round (12th overall) of the 2006 WHL Bantam Draft .. a terrific overall skater that sports a subtleness to his game .. closes the passing and shooting lanes down .. skilled at headmanning the puck, be it short or long range .. will drop down to block a hot .. possesses nice escapability making him a threat to occasionally carry the puck up the ice .. can get caught running around in his own zone .. most opponents have trouble getting by him, because of his mobility and an active stick .. a regular on both the powerplay and penalty killing units .. regularly partners with Sam Klassen. Curtis Hamilton (2010), LW, Saskatoon
Selected in the second round (36th overall) of the 2006 WHL Bantam Draft .. boasts a powerful stride, with nice acceleration .. will drop down or slide out to block the shot .. takes a hit to make a play .. comes back quickly on defense .. has the speed, mobility and size (6-foot-3, 200-pounds) to fight through traffic .. park himself in front on the powerplay also plays on the penalty kill .. looked comfortable playing on a line with Adam Chorneyko and Chris Langkow. Josh Nicholls (2010), C, Saskatoon
Chosen in the second round (27th overall) of the 2007 WHL Bantam Draft .. lanky looking pivot moves well and hits with authority .. has a nice, long powerful stride .. will battle in traffic and has the frame to add another 20 pounds of solid muscle to his 6-foot-2, 170-pounds .. doesn't mind throwing attacking the puckcarrier on the forecheck .. boasts tremendous closing speed and is strong on his skates .. supports the puck and will come back to replace on pinching defender .. showed some chemistry on a kid line with Charles Inglis and Brody Sutter. Burke Gallimore (2009), RW, Saskatoon
Drafted by Spokane Chiefs in the second round (23rd overall) of the 2006 WHL Bantam Draft .. stocky 6-foot-0, 200-pounds framed winger isn't particularly strong .. possesses good mobility and generally does a nice job closing down time and space of the puckcarrier .. has a quick release .. likes to get in behind the defensive coverage .. looked solid on the number one line with Derek Hulak and Milan Kytnar .. gets regular powerplay time. (41gp, 17-9-26)
