WHL: Cool Hand Luke

Tyler Myers (2008), D, Kelowna
The humongous (6-foot-7, 210-pound frame) partnered with Colin Joe .. amazing reach and exceptional mobility for such a giant .. his -13 is easily worst on the team by a wide margin and looks even worse when compared with four of his teammates that have +20 or better rating .. a regular on the powerplay .. needs to stick with his man better in Kelowna's zone .. covers a lot of ice quickly and uses his long strides to keep up .. uses his reach well to take away passing/shooting lanes as well as creating turnovers .. will join the rush and has the speed to even lead it .. can be guilty of hanging on to the puck too long when he does his rushes up the ice .. starting to display more of a nastier side .. has the ability to beat the first checker .. lacks vision with the puck .. sometimes gets caught chasing the puck .. can still be pressured in to making mistakes in his own zone .. starting to use his size and strength to sports pretty decent escapability when chased .. will pinch in from the point .. takes the pass well .. protects the puck using his body and long reach .. has a semi-dangerous point shot when he gets it through, although it rarely over powers .. needs to improve the accuracy of his passes. Luke Schenn (2008), D, Kelowna
6-foot-3, 210-pound defenseman has an "A" .. partnered with the impressive Tyson Barrie .. boasts a solid wrist shot .. might be one of the closest thing to a sure thing as far as being an elite shutdown specialist .. locks up the puckcarrier .. moves the puck efficiently .. extremely solid on his skates and will take a hit to make a play .. accepts as well as gives the pass smoothly .. generally arrives to the puckcarrier in ill humour .. uses his stick to close passing and shooting lanes .. plays a ton in all situations including both special teams .. strong on the puck and rarely over handles it .. boasts good speed out of the blocks .. doesn't lose too many battles in the dirty areas .. shows a willingness to stand up for himself or teammates. (52gp, 5-20-25)
Colin Long (2008), C, Kelowna
Smallish pivot (5-foot-11, 180-pound frame) .. centered a line with Cody Almond and Brady Leavold .. wears an A .. is blessed with elite vision at the junior level, however remains a bit of a perimeter player .. is predominately a playmaker, but has soft enough hands that he can take advantage of poor goaltending .. supports the puckcarrier well .. finds the holes in the defensive coverage .. a regular on the powerplay .. exceptional hand-eye coordination which helps him swallow up passes that are off the mark .. has trouble beating an opponent one-on-one given hits anyone with any malice .. doesn't accomplish much during the game except for getting points .. paces himself and rarely gets involved physically, few players read the play better at this level .. sometimes looks sluggish getting back later in the game. (67gp, 28-67-95)
Brandon McMillan (2008), LW, Kelowna
Has definitely hit a wall goal wise as he has recorded only one goal in the last 19 games, even worse has two points in the last 14 games .. seemingly has stumbled down the home stretch .. uses good speed and mobility to finish his checks on the forecheck .. takes the body well .. delivers crisp clean passes .. still would benefit from adding some beef as he has trouble pushing his way through heavy traffic .. boasts very good top end speed, but unfortunately lacks the ability to make many high end plays .. more of a dump and chase type than finesse .. works efficiently in the dirty areas thanks to a solid work ethic and the fact he keeps his feet moving .. can have trouble corralling sloppy passes.
