WHL: Barrie The Hatchet

Collin Bowman (2009), D, Kelowna
The Rockets' second round choice (39th overall) in the 2006 WHL Bantam Draft .. nice shot release .. partners with Tysen Dowzak .. narrows the gap on the opposition .. generally solid playing man on man, but can have some trouble with speedier forwards beating him on the outside as he gets caught flatfooted .. will go down on one knee to block a shot .. pretty good at cutting off the cross ice pass .. needs to be tougher in the dirty areas and get more out of his 6-foot-2, 190-pound frame .. doesn't show much vision in the offensive zone and lacks elite acceleration .. plays on both special teams. Tyson Barrie (2009), D, Kelowna
Creative blueliner was chosen 18th overall in the first round by the Rockets in the 2006 WHL Bantam Draft .. son of Tampa Bay Lightning co-owner Len Barrie .. partners with Tyler Myers on Kelowna's top pairing .. stocky defender is listed at 5-foot-10, 190-pounds .. displays terrific vision from the point as he will take something off his shot or moving it deftly to an open teammate instead of always just blindly firing it as hard as he can .. very aggressive, sometimes too much so, trying to anticipate turnovers .. dishes out crisp, hard passes .. plays on both special teams .. needs to display more commitment defensively .. can appear a bit lazy getting back on defence .. does have an extra gear .. often acts like a fourth forward as he joins the play .. loves to carry the puck up the ice .. will go to the net with or without the puck .. doesn't play a physical game, however does use pretty good body positioning and an active stick to try and limit the opposition's time and space in the scoring areas .. sports a good work ethic, especially in pursuit of the puck. (24gp, 5-19-24)
Stepan Novotny (2009), RW, Kelowna
Selected 24th overall in the 2008 CHL Import Draft by the Rockets .. boasts pretty noticeable acceleration .. sports a dangerous shot that seems to the holes thanks to a quick release and biting velocity .. showed chemistry on a line with Colin Long and Brandon McMillan .. showcases very nice overall speed and has the mobility to pressure the puckcarrier .. takes the pass well at full speed .. a regular on the powerplay. (24gp, 6-5-11)
Adam Brown (2010), G, Kelowna
Yorba Linda, California native is eligible for the 2010 NHL Entry Draft .. exceptionally quick moving from post to post while he keeps square to the shooter .. he leaves some holes up stairs and must work on playing bigger in the net .. still gets caught at times over playing the first shot and being out of position for the second shot .. sports very good athleticism .. needs to try and stay on his feet as long as possible as he's only 5-foot-10, 165-pounds .. definitely has some upside, yet has much work left in improving his overall game. (11gp, GAA 2.17, Sv% 0.895)
Aaron Borejko (2009), D, Kelowna
Third pairing defender from Edmonton, Alberta partners with Kyle Verdino .. plays it safe and doesn't hang on to the puck any longer than he needs to .. chosen by the Rockets in the fifth round (102nd overall) of the 2006 WHL Bantam Draft. (14gp, 0-4-4)
Spencer Main (2010), C/RW, Kelowna
Selected in the second round (25th overall) by the Rockets in the 2007 WHL Bantam Draft .. has yet to register a single point in 19 games this season .. on occasion he looks over matched as he still needs to get stronger and quicker, but he has time on his side .. does have a bit of a nasty streak .. not a bad skater and is showing that he's not afraid of physical play even if he is not overly proficient at it yet .. listed at 5-foot-11, 180-pounds .. centered the fourth line of Curt Gogol and Evan Bloodoff.
