WHL: Ad-Myer-ing Tyler

Tyler Myers (2008), D, Kelowna
Moves incredibly well for such a big player, 6-foot-7, 210-pounds .. has a heavy wrist shot .. is dead last of all Rockets with a miserable (-11) .. will pinch up to get a loose puck .. played on both special teams .. splendid wingspan, makes it hard for puckcarriers to beat him .. fairly accurate with his breakout passes .. shows some offensive vision, however he's not got much touch around the net .. rarely ever shows a mean streak .. uses his long reach and stride to effectively recover shoot ins .. communicates well with his defensive partner .. pretty good hand-eye coordination .. surprisingly quick when he gets moving, especially in a straight line .. supports his defensive partner as well as reading the play .. is mobile enough to beat the first forechecker .. shows a fondness for joining the rush from time to time .. can be guilty of letting the odd opponent slip in behind coverage. Riley McIntosh (2008), D, Kelowna
Did a nice job closing the gap on the puckcarrier .. lanky and a bit awkward looking blueliner is still growing in to his 6-foot-5, 195-pound frame .. can be pressured in to making mistakes .. his footspeed heels work as he is a bit sluggish out of the blocks .. a third pairing defender at the junior level .. not very accurate with his breakout pass .. lacks average speed and mobility, although is able to use his size and long reach to make it harder for opponents to beat him to the outside. (22gp, 1-0-1)
Brandon McMillan (2008), LW/C, Kelowna
Played on a line with Cody Almond and Kyle St. Denis .. displays nice hand-eye coordination .. delivers crisp, hard passes .. can pick the corners on a goalie when given time and space .. has good vision .. finishes his checks well .. goes to the holes .. works hard with or without the puck .. conscientious defensively as he's often the first forward back .. supports the puck and is very unselfish .. looks to pass when opportunity presents itself .. not hesitant to get his nose dirty .. will take a hit to make a play .. pretty smart with the puck and rarely makes unforced errors .. will go to the holes looking for the pass .. gets in quickly on the forecheck .. a regular on the powerplay. (40gp, 10-16-26)
Dylan Hood (2008), C, Kelowna
Sports terrific closing speed .. played on a line with Jesse Paradis and Milan Kytnar .. very quick feet and sports elite mobility .. must get stronger on the puck .. sees time on the powerplay .. needs to play the man with more determination .. doesn't have a lot of success taking the body and the flipside gets knocked off the puck a bit too easily .. still very inconsistent, but does have shifts where he can cause havoc in the offensive zone due to his quickness with the puck .. boasts a heavy wrist shot. (33gp, 5-5-10)
Kyle St.Denis (2008), RW, Kelowna
Pint-sized winger is in the top 20 of WHL rookie point getters .. very shifty in tight and can stickhandle in a phone booth .. played on a line with Cody Almond and Brandon McMillan .. played some point on the powerplay .. gets knocked off the puck a bit too easily at times, but gets right backup .. not blessed with elite breakaway speed or the necessary skill that would make his lack of size a nonfactor .. unfortunately for him unless there is a growth spurt in his future the NHL is unlikely to be either. (32gp, 8-12-20)
Colin Long (2008), C, Kelowna
Native of Santa Ana, California went undrafted last season in his first year of being eligible for the NHL Entry Draft .. wears an A .. plays on Jamie Benn and Brady Leavold .. has 30 more points than he had all of last season .. doesn't seem all that interested in getting physically involved .. displays very good anticipation .. shows a lot of poise with the puck and rarely panics .. plays on powerplay .. an economical skater, but does display a nice burst of speed and flashes breakaway speed on occasion .. seems to be in the right place at the right time without being overly quick .. sports imagination with the puck .. rarely engages in body contact .. very deceptive as he just seems to get or create scoring chances that must players wouldn't .. not great defensively, but does come back and uses his quick hands and anticipation to create turnovers.
