WAHA: State of Wisconsin Hockey

Wisconsin continues to get stronger in terms of producing NCAA and now NHL prospects. NHL teams are no longer shy to draft a player out of Wisconsin High School, as within the last two years Derrick LaPoint, Brent Gwidt, and Travis Erstad were selected in the NHL Entry Draft. This year, Wisconsin has two players worthy of draft consideration, as well as a steady pipeline of up and coming talent that will keep that tradition alive.
Nate Condon (2008), C, Wausau West/ Team Wisconsin

Big and fast playmaking center that recently committed to the University of Minnesota .. blessed with a tall and broad frame that is capable of handling significant muscle gain .. good skater for a big kid and owns a prevailing top gear that forces the opposition to give him a wide gap that he can capitalize on with his striking vision and passing ability .. will need to improve his shot and begin to finish more of his chances .. not a power forward and will be asked to develop a physical edge to compliment his big frame as he moves on to higher levels of play .. physically and defensively more mature than last years Wisconsin High School draft pick Travis Erstad, although his pure skill level is not quite as high .. definitely worth receiving attention at the NHL Draft.
Sean Little (2009), C, Fond du Lac/ Team Wisconsin
Smart and skilled playmaker with great skill and is the top-2009, draft-eligible prospect playing high school in Wisconsin .. he sees the ice masterfully and is a deft passer that can really thread the needle with his creative passing game .. dangerous from the blueline in, as he's patient with the puck and can seemingly slow the game down to his pace .. possesses supple hand skill and is deceivingly strong on the puck .. savvy player that is on the puck a lot and makes those around him better .. just needs to compete harder and begin to use his underrated speed more often.
Alex Amundson (2009), D, Brookfield/ Team Wisconsin
Tall and lanky two-way defenseman with good instincts .. owns a languid stride with fluid mobility in all directions, although his feet could be quicker .. senses the game well, as he is always in position and proactively applies himself at both ends of the ice .. always aware to cover for his defensive partner or when to pinch down low and create an odd-man attack .. sees the ice well and makes smart passes on the point and while breaking the puck out of the zone .. does a sound job angling his man to the wall and plays the body adequately however, he severely needs to beef up his wiry frame.
Nolan Kirley (2010), D, Hayward/ Team Wisconsin
Pro-style defenseman that plays with a physical edge .. crisp skater with compact footwork and a strong stride in all directions .. possesses strong wrists but his hands are just okay and he is inconsistent moving the puck, as his first pass is quick and on the money while at other times, he can fumble the puck and not make a play coming out of his own end .. confident player that likes to jump and has a knack for timing the open ice hit .. defensive-first-type-of player that does not like to fully commit himself to the offensive attack .. strong with wide hips and great core strength .. plays with a passionate mean streak and loves to rub guys off along the boards or in front of his net .. displays superb gap control and does a fine job covering the front of his net .. a real pain to play against with tremendous upside.
Shayne McLaughlin (2010), C, Eau Claire Memorial/ Team Wisconsin
Big and skilled center that is a bull down low .. power forward with a big and thick frame that gives the opposition fits in the corners and in front of the net .. often takes the shortest and most physical way to the net, as he displays his prodigious in-close puck control in heavy traffic .. deadly in-tight goal scorer with a quick shot that is propelled by his deceiving release that catches goaltenders off guard .. moves well in tight areas for a big kid, although he will need to lengthen his stride to progress his average top gear .. defensive game needs work, as he just seems to chase the puck .. confident offensive catalyst below the hash marks.
Garrett Allen (2010), RW, Milwaukee Jr. Admirals
Smart and skilled forward with a prototypical stride that stimulates his striking speed .. competes hard and generates many chances .. possesses soft hands and can really finish .. reads the game well and always seems to be in position .. needs to work on his shift-to-shift consistency and confidence, as it seems he does not realize how talented he really is.
Trevor Morbeck (2012), RW, Milwaukee Jr. Admirals
Gangly and raw winger with intriguing upside .. upright skater with quick and light feet, although his stride needs to be lengthened to stimulate a faster top gear .. possesses a few slick one-on-one moves and he moves the puck adequately .. not a difference maker yet, but he shows the tools to play at the higher levels if he commits himself.
