USHS: Avon Versus Berkshire

Avon Old Farms is rolling into the playoffs and has become the top team in prep school. The top two lines have been on fire and are starting to play a stronger team game, while the defense remains sturdy. The team is also rotating their senior goalies- Randy Wolcott and Patrick Enloe. In their latest contest, Avon dominated Berkshire winning 6-2.
Cam Atkinson (2007), F, Avon (JR)

A goal and two assists .. plays on a line with older brother Tom Atkinson and Nick Bonino .. displays a tremendous work ethic every shift and never gives up on a play .. willing to battle in the corners despite his diminutive stature .. offensively, he is as talented as the top prep players are, and is responsible defensively .. his goal shows that he is a finisher around the net and his assists were on both Bonino goals .. would like to see a team take a risk come draft day .. committed to Boston College 2008 .. stats as of Jan. 30, 2007 (18gp, 18-18-36)
Nick Bonino (2007), F, Avon (SR)
Had two goals and two assists .. after watching him multiple times, the scouting becomes more precise and detailed .. he wants the puck on his stick every shift .. his stick handling is top notch in most leagues and his creativity with the puck backs many defenders off .. his vision creates scoring chances for all his teammates and especially deadly on the power play .. his first goal displayed his terrific hands as he went around two defenders and pulled it to his backhand on the goalie .. his defensive play has come along way this year .. his skating remains an issue with many scouts (including our scouting staff), but he is working on it and should improve before moving up to the college level at Boston University next year .. stats as of Jan. 30, 2007 (18gp, 18-27-45)
Ken Trentowski (2007), D, Avon (SR)
Senior captain has great poise and offensive instincts .. leads the team in plus/minus .. has tremendous vision from the backend and moves the puck up the ice well .. had a goal on the power play when faked the shot and moved around the defender and fired a low shot five-hole .. committed to Yale 2007 .. stats as of Jan. 30, 2007 (18gp, 3-12-15)
Lee Moffie (2008), D, Avon (SO)
Smooth skating defender who loves to jump up into the offense, but needs to back check harder at certain times .. will need to step-up and control the blue line after Trentowski leaves .. is strong in front of his own net and in the corners .. could be tempted to make the jump to the USHL next year or the year after .. stats as of Jan. 30, 2007 (18gp, 2-3-5)
Chris Wieland (2008), F, Avon (JR)
Displays a great talent with the puck, but will need to improve on his play away from the puck .. had an assist in the game and made a nice pass to spring Patrick Mullane on a breakaway .. a strong player along the boards and in the offensive zone .. makes up that second line (Mullane and James Chamness) that Avon will need to produce every game in order to go deep in the playoffs .. should find a lot of college teams interested .. stats as of Jan. 30, 2007 (18gp, 12-10-22)
Randy Wolcott (2007), G, Avon (SR)
Was not challenged much in this game .. showed good rebound control and ability to kick them to the corners .. has quick reflexes .. splits time with other senior goalie Patrick Enloe and it remains to be seen if that will continue into the playoffs, as Enloe currently has the better numbers .. stats as of Jan. 30, 2007 (9gp, 7-2-0 ) .. 236 total shots-against, 19 goals-against.
Josh Rabbani (2007), F, Berkshire (SR)
Scored one of the two goals for Berkshire .. captain and strong player .. has speed, smarts and power moves to the net .. a physical presence and plays hard every shift .. has short, quick, powerful strides and can really move with the puck .. takes only a few strides before he is at full speed .. offensively, has a strong shot, but seems to lack that goal scoring talent.
