USA Select 17: Moseying Along

Finishing up our look at Team Grey and their forwards we feature Tony Mosey of Minnesota. Mosey's a smooth skating forward that will be moving on to the US National Team Development Program after spending last season with Shattuck-St. Mary's. We also have notes on James Gallagher & Derek Roehl of Michigan, Ryan Kretzer of Missouri, Tom Scocozza of Pennsylvania and Anthony Yelovich from New Jersey.
James Gallagher (2006), F

Produced 37 points (19-18-37) in 26 games last year for Marquette High School .. lacks acceleration and mobility, however he makes up for those shortcoming somewhat by his strength on the puck .. isn't the smoothest stickhandler around, although that doesn't seem to hurt his ability to move the puck .. a physical presence given his nasty demeanor and ample size 6'2"-195lbs. .. wore #15 .. USA Select 17 totals (6, 0-1-1-0).
Derek Roehl (2006), F
Racked up 29 points (12-17-29) for the Youngstown Phantom last season and will be moving on to the Lincoln Stars of the USHL for the coming year .. looks to be doing his own thing at times .. displayed some laziness with using his stick to check instead of getting his body on the player .. displays some puck skills and is slick puckhandler in traffic and isn't shy about experimenting with new tricks .. has good vision and doesn't panic under pressure .. puts some mustard on his passes .. wore #16 .. USA Select 17 totals (6, 2-1-3-6).
Tony Mosey (2006), F
Recorded 63 points (28-35-63) in 53 games for Shattuck-St. Mary's in 04-5 .. ldisplayed wonderful vision at times and would be able to find a teammate with a slick backhand pass through traffic to the player free for a scoring chance .. has terrific agility and therefor can turn on a dime while still maintaining puck possession .. looks solid on his skates .. puts the pass on the tape .. saw time on a line with Justin Brossman and Ryan Kretzer at the Festival .. wore #17 .. USA Select 17 totals (6, 0-2-2-6).
Ryan Kretzer (2007), F
Small forward racked up 47 points (18-29-47) in 53 games last season for the St. Louis Jr. Blues .. takes the pass smoothly on the forehand or backhand .. mobile skater with good acceleration, however doesn't look especially solid on his feet .. very accurate shot, with a nice quick release .. his passes were generally on the tape, but he did send a few in to the feet of a teammate .. saw time on a line with Justin Brossman and Tony Mosey at the Festival .. wore #18 .. USA Select 17 totals (6, 1-3-4-2).
Tom Scocozza (2006), F
Scored 27 goals and added 13 assists for Lawrenceville School last season in only 29 games .. is effective at taking his man off of the faceoff .. a bit smaller than average (5'10"-165lbs.), but is a strong skater with nice acceleration and mobility .. needs to add some muscle to his frame as he appears a bit thin .. drove hard to the net and took the pass effortlessly and deposited the puck in the back of the net .. wore #19 .. USA Select 17 totals (6, 1-3-4-0).
Anthony Yelovich (2006), F
Lanky 61"-170lbs. forward produced 49 points (20-29-49) in 26 games for the New Hampshire Jr. Monarchs .. a solid penalty-killer as he uses his mobility and decent quickness to create pressure on the man at the point .. has a powerful stride .. could have scored a few more goals as he appeared to be a bit snake-bitten around the net .. wore #20 .. USA Select 17 totals (6, 3-2-5-4).
