USA Select 17: Happy Camper

In part two of our look at players that took part at the USA Hockey Select 17 Festival we continue going team-by-team starting with Team Black. Yesterday we took a gander at the defense, today we have notes on the following forwards on Team Black which include Ross Monson, Carter Camper, Aaron Marvin and Jon Sicsik.
Ross Monson (2006), F

Bismarck, North Dakota resident is generally dependable in his work away from the puck, but then again he better be as he only chipped in with one assist at the Festival .. overall is a good skater with above average speed, mobility and acceleration .. seems to have good hockey sense without the puck .. laboured to get back in the play after turning the puck over leading to an odd man rush and subsequently a goal .. has decent vision offensively, although he looked pretty poor when he rushed the puck up the ice and had all the time in the world and still turned it over by passing it directly in to traffic .. wore #8 .. USA Select 17 totals (6, 0-1-1-4).
Carter Camper (2006), F
Native of Rocky River, Ohio isn't a physical specimen, but does use his body effectively to dish out hits, especially on the forecheck .. blessed with exceptional speed and acceleration .. plays the body well and does a splendid job cutting down time and space for the opposition .. works hard in traffic and away from the puck .. supports the defense .. has the ability to create scoring chances through tenacious checking .. displays some talent offensively and will capitalize in close .. wore #9 .. USA Select 17 totals (6, 4-3-7-2).
Aaron Marvin (2006), F
Was a scoring threat last season with Warroad HS, however he didn't have much success pulling the trigger at Select 17 Festival .. tall, lanky forward will need to add some muscled to his slender frame .. didn't get much on his shots and added to his misery by having some difficulty taking some passes cleanly in scoring areas .. is surprisingly quick out of the blocks, although he lacks an extra gear to beat a defender wide .. wore #11 .. USA Select 17 totals (6, 1-1-2-2).
Jon Sicsik (2006), F
Wisconsin born Sicsik had an up and down time of it in St. Cloud .. doesn't always use his linemates properly as he showed failing to find the wide open man on a two-on-one, choosing instead to try and beat the defender and the goalie by himself .. highly mobile, with nice acceleration .. had some problems handling passes cleanly as he bobbled more than a few passes .. will have trouble finding success at the next level .. closes the gap quickly on the forecheck .. isn't a speed demon with the puck .. can really roof the puck on his backhand .. wore #12 .. USA Select 17 totals (6, 1-3-4-0).
