USA Select 17: Cramers Coursing Opposition

Today we take a look at the look at the goalies that backstopped Team Navy and Team Orange during the USA Hockey Select 17 Festival. Arguably the best goalie prospect on either team was Team Navy's Corson Cramer of Colorado. We also have notes on Michael Jarboe of Michigan, John Muse of Massachusetts and Steve Thompson of Alaska.
Corson Cramer (2007), G, Team Navy

Had a solid .900 save percentage with Hotchkiss School last season, however his record of 8 wins and 15 losses is a bit ugly .. his father was the 1980 World Professional Figure Skating Champion (credit: USA Hockey) .. his penchant for playing too deep in the net exposes the top corners .. has quick feet and sparkling reflexes which he showed off by making a toe save on a shot through traffic .. will give the shooter the five-hole, but just as quickly as he gave it he takes it away .. displays nice agility and has the ability to looked composed facing a breakaway .. wore #1 .. USA Select 17 totals (Sv% 0.925, GAA 2.00).
Michael Jarboe (2006), G, Team Navy
Only lost 6 times backstopping Compuware to 23 wins while amassing a very solid 0.920 Sv% and 2.20 GAA .. after a poor start allowing two stoppable goals he settled down somewhat .. has a quick glove hand .. needs to work on his puck control as he often had trouble with rebounds .. appears to be rattled easily under pressure .. his positioning needs improvement, especially with regards to being in the right place to be able to stop the second shot .. more of a project at this time than a prospect .. wore #30 .. USA Select 17 totals (Sv% 0.905, GAA 3.02).
John Muse (2006), G, Team Orange
Played in 28 games last season for Noble & Greenough and amassed 21 wins and 5 losses with a solid .910 Sv% .. has to be much better with his rebound control as some of the pucks would be directed out in to the slot .. looks a bit shaky out of his net and doesn't handle the puck especially well .. communicates effectively with his defense .. could add some beef to his 5'11" frame as he is a rather slight 160lbs. .. wore #1 .. USA Select 17 totals (Sv% 0.929, GAA 2.01).
Steve Thompson (2007), G, Team Orange
Won 22 times, while losing only 6 times with the Alaska North Stars and achieving an impressive 0.924 Sv% and 1.81 GAA .. big-bodied netminder looks a bit stiff, especially moving side-to-side .. doesn't play his angles particularly well as he left a huge hole upstairs on more than one occasion .. lacks the reflexes to make up for his poor agility .. has some trouble finding pucks in his feet .. looked especially poor on a deflection that he never reacted to that went in to the gaping hole to the stick side .. time is on his side if he can get to work on the fundamentals .. wore #30 .. USA Select 17 totals (Sv% 0.810, GAA 5.33).
