USA Hockey: Xtreme Makeover - Hockey Edition

The Ashburn Xtreme U-16 AA hockey team is the top-ranked team in the state of Virginia and is also ranked #18 nationally, according to MyHockeyRankings.com. Part of this success has been due to sophomore sensation Max Lorenzen, who participated in last summer's USA Hockey Select 16 Player Development Camp. McKeen's takes a look at Lorenzen to see what all of the buzz is about.

Max Lorenzen (2010), F, Ashburn Xtreme U-16 AA

Small (5-6, 145) but has a Chihuahua-like mentality (big guy in a small body) .. not afraid to mix it up with players much larger than him .. shows physicality and will grind it out along the boards if necessary .. possesses amazing speed and cutting ability, which makes skating his greatest asset .. relentless pursuer of the puck who can win sprint races, as well as draws in the circle .. solid puckhandler who shows glimpses of wizardry, as he has the occasional ability to undress defenders and get a quality shot on net .. loves to hang around the goal, as he looks to set up teammates or be on the receiving end of a one-timer .. can contribute on both the PP and PK .. his toughness and intelligent play make him one of the team's leaders on the ice.
