Toronto Marlboros win 2015 OHL Cup Championship

Captain Matthew Strome tapped in a pass from linemate Nicholas Pryce 3:41 into overtime to give the Marlboros their fifth OHL Cup title in the last 11 years with a 3-2 win over the Don Mills Flyers at the Mattamy Athletic Centre. The Marlies also won OHL Cup Championships in 2005, 2009, 2011 and 2014.
Strome follows in the footsteps of his older brothers Ryan Strome (New York Islanders) and the OHL's leading scorer Dylan Strome (Erie Otters) in representing the Toronto Marlboros. He joins Ryan as an OHL Cup Champion.

"I couldn't ask for a bigger stage for this," the youngest Strome said post-game. "Pryce's pass was right on my tape and if I hadn't have buried that I probably would've heard it from him after," he said with a laugh.
"I've been really fortunate to play my entire GTHL career with this organization and I couldn't think of a better way to end it."
The Marlboros fell behind the Flyers early as Drake LaFontaine put Don Mills on top 7:45 into the first period, redirecting a Robby Haak point shot past goaltender Jake McGrath.
The Don Mills lead would be short-lived though. GTHL Player of the Year and OHL Cup MVP Ryan McLeod wheeled down the wing under two minutes later, beating Flyers goaltender Mathew Woroniuk under the crossbar on the short side to knot the score at one.
The Marlies picked up the pace in the second, taking the play to Don Mills. Big two-way centreman Mackenzie Entwistle gave the Marlboros their first lead of the night with 1:54 to spare in the period. Entwistle beat Flyers goaltender Mathew Woroniuk across the crease on a wraparound with assists from Strome and Kody Clark to give the Marlies a 2-1 edge.
In desperation mode down a goal late in the third, Don Mills Head Coach Lindsay Hofford loaded up his top line with the skilled trio of David Levin, Brett Neumann and Jacob Tortora. Tortora delivered the tying goal with 3:34 remaining to send the game to overtime, taking a centering feed from Levin to beat an outstretched McGrath inside the far post.
Tied going into overtime in the same scenario they found themselves in in Game 8 of the GTHL Finals just over a week ago, a hero emerged to make the difference. Like Elijah Roberts a week earlier, Strome came up big when it mattered most to lift the Marlies to OHL Cup glory with a little help from his linemate.
"I took a drop pass from Matthew Wilkins inside the blue line and just saw an opening," Nicholas Pryce said following the win. "I just wanted to get Stromer the puck because I knew he'd finish the job."
Don Mills would outshoot the Marlies 24-21 as Toronto goaltender Jake McGrath was named the Marlies' Player of the Game, providing some timely saves in the third period.
The Don Mills Flyers end their OHL Cup tournament with a final record of 6-1-0. They were led in scoring by forwards David Levin and Brett Neumann who each had two goals, seven assists and nine points in six games.
Jacob Tortora was named the Player of the Game for the Flyers after providing the tying goal for his club.
The Marlboros marched to an OHL Cup Championship sporting a record of 6-1-0 while outscoring opponenets 24-11.
"We had some real wars with Don Mills this year," Strome concluded. "They're a great team that has pushed us hard. It was a great feeling to overcome them one more time."
