A towering but lanky forward was moved to center and has defensive awareness, but is often invisible .. more effective when using his size to create room and space .. suspect to leaning into a man to finish a check rather than hit .. can rub out a player and steal pucks when motivated .. still vulnerable to being knocked down - especially when extending himself using his long reach .. has a long stride, pushing out hard and doesn't take much to get going, but could move his feet faster .. would rather pass than shoot .. a team player who sacrifices his body blocking shots .. wins more draws when using his body to tie a player up and loses draws when using just his stick .. showed his potential driving to the net with the puck while knocking the net off and drawing a penalty .. could be quicker finding the open ice for a pass .. dynamic player potential with added passion in the offensive zone. Stats: (72-5-9-14), minus-30, 42 PIM.
Jacob Berglund (2010), LW, Lethbridge
Swedish-born player ramped up his offensive game after coming over from Portland midseason .. thrown into every situation after earning his icetime, often every other shift .. a thick, stocky player that is hard to knock down and no one likes to receive a hit from .. could hit more often, as he would rather be a skill player .. stole the puck short handed at the point, proceeded to deliver a saucer pass on a 2-on-1 for a goal .. average speed, needs to hop to get going and kicks heels up on follow through .. opportunist, competitive, strong in corners leaning into players while shielding the puck .. hard slapper and quick release on his wristshot .. scored from a tough angle and hit the post when left alone in front .. whacks sticks to knock pucks loose and is effective short handed .. could work on his skating and needs to be more consistent with his physical play, but has offensive upside. Stats: (71-9-17-26), minus-25, 42 PIM.
Brandon Anderson (2010), G, Lethbridge
Active netminder took over the starting role midseason on a rebuilding team ..butterfly style that takes away low corners and closes the five-hole quickly .. positional, finds a way to get a piece of dangerous shots .. pops up from his pads like a jack-in-the-box .. always communicating, pointing to the open man and constantly hammering his stick .. willing to dive and poke away pucks .. solid leg strength, can squat low and keep his balance .. rebound control may be an issue, as he leaves too many juicy rebounds off pads/stick/blocker .. low blocker may be a weakness as well .. faced an average of 26 shots per game .. competitive netminder that pumps up a young club. Stats: 37games played, 3.49 goals-against average, .892 save percentage and a 12-19-1-1 record.
