Sertich Wins 2005 Hobey Baker Award

Junior forward Martin Sertich, who led the CC Tigers to a share of the MacNaughton Cup as the Western Collegiate Hockey Association champions and a trip to the Frozen Four, is the 25th winner of the Hobey Baker Memorial Award. Sertich accepted the award honoring college hockey's most outstanding player on April 8 during a televised news conference in Columbus, Ohio. Sertich, a native of Roseville, Minn., is the second Colorado College player to achieve the honor, joining former linemate Peter Sejna in 2003. He edged fellow Hobey Hat Trick finalists David McKee, a goaltender from Cornell, and Brett Sterling, Sertich's current linemate with the Tigers.
Sertich was also the 2005 WCHA Player of the Year and led the conference in scoring. Sertich led the nation in points (64) and points per game (1.52) while ranking second in both goals (27) and assists (37). His two goals and one assist at the NCAA West Regional helped Colorado College reach the Frozen Four, and landed him a spot on the All-Tournament Team. The National Player of the Month in December, Sertich has had at least a point in 33 of the Tigers' 42 games, including 22 multiple-point games.
