QMJHL Report: P.E.I. Rockets

The P.E.I. Rockets are once again in the middle of the pack in the QMJHL standings. Part of the problem is that they play in the powerful Atlantic division. Another reason is that organization has not been able to draft or acquire a top player in recent years. This season, it's more of the same as they have a solid bunch of prospects but nobody who can take them to the next level. McKeen's correspondent Rick Springhetti looks at a few Rockets hoping to make an impression for the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.
Dylan Capstick (2011), D, P.E.I.

Member of Quebec's U-17 team in 2008-2009 .. has mostly played defense but has also seen time as a winger with P.E.I .. choppy skater who doesn't have great mobility .. stride is slightly crouched over .. not a graceful puckhandler, he tries to move the puck to a teammate as soon as possible .. gets some power behind his shot .. release could be a little quicker .. finishes his checks with authority .. a more mature player this season, he doesn't run around as much as he used to but is more patient, letting the play come to him .. knows his limits and plays within them.
Josh Currie (2011), RW, P.E.I.
Very good skater who picks up speed in just a few strides .. moves the puck up the ice quickly once he gets control of it .. pivots could be a little better when he is going at higher speeds .. at only 5-foot-10 and 170 pounds, it makes it difficult for him to win battles for the puck .. more effective playing the angles in his own zone .. doesn't have a very hard shot but he does hit his target regularly .. backchecks consistently .. needs to get a little harder on the puck, as opponents have been able to steal it off him at times .. often facing opponents' top lines where he has done a fine job containing them.
Maxime Lagace (2011), G, P.E.I.
Rookie goaltender plays a basic butterfly style .. has an habit of going down way too quickly .. has trouble making saves on low shots, especially at the five-hole .. good glove hand, he handles high shots well .. good lateral mobility and flexibility .. pushes from side to side well .. stick is usually well positioned .. doesn't have great rebound control .. struggles with confidence when he lets in a bad goal .. very good puckhandler, he can help the transition by getting the puck to his teammates quickly.
Jimmy Oligny (2011), D, P.E.I.
Two-way defenseman who does a lot of things well but doesn't excel at anything in particular .. not afraid of initiating contact but has trouble winning battles for the puck .. has a better time when he can dish out an open-ice hit where he is able to time his checks .. can spot teammates well on the ice and make some decent passes, but should try to pass the puck with more authority .. gets the puck out of his zone quickly .. willing to pay a physical price to help his team .. will block shots regularly .. gives a consistent effort.
Victor Provencher (2011), LW, P.E.I.
First round pick of the P.E.I Rockets at the 2010 QJMHL entry draft - 16th overall .. has a very good work ethic .. fast skater with a fluid stride who keeps his feet moving at all times .. very quick on the opposing puckcarrier making him effective in PK situations .. not a very hard hitter but unafraid to jump into traffic areas to make a play or to take a hit .. will often go to the net when his team has possession of the puck disrupting the opposing defense .. has a fairly hard shot but has a real tough time getting it to the net .. doesn't have very good vision so he keeps his passes short.
