QMJHL Report: Brassard Fractures Arm

Legendary former NHL goaltender Patrick Roy is being accused by the Chicoutimi Sagueneens of trying to pilfer their head coach. Roy went on record with Bertrand Raymond of the Journal de Montreal as saying Sags bench boss Richard Martel would make an excellent addition to his Quebec Remparts - who Roy now coaches.
Chicoutimi alleges Roy is interfering with present negotiations with Martel, whose current agreement with the Sagueneens expires as season's end. In other bizarre Remparts news, netminder Maxim Joyal parted ways with the club on Oct. 20 and is awaiting the Christmas trade window to be reassigned.

Brassard Fractures Arm
The Drummondville Voltigeurs will be without the services of top scorer Derick Brassard for at least three weeks while recovering from a fractured arm. His offensive numbers will be sorely missed, especially given he had scored 14 points in his past 5 games.
Paquet Packs It In
With the news Shawinigan Cataractes defenseman Jean-Philippe Paquet (Pit) would be sitting out the upcoming Canada/Russia Challenge later this month, Andrew Bodnarchuk of the Halifax Mooseheads received news he would be the replacement. Bodnarchuk, who was originally only slated to play in one of the two contests against the Russians, will now get two chances to display his wares in front of NHL scouts.
Veilleux Wins In First Game Behind Cataractes Bench
Eric Veilleux got off on the right foot in his first game behind the Shawinigan Cataractes bench replacing the longest reigning head coach in the QMJHL. The Cataractes defeated the Victoriaville Tigres 4-1 on Nov. 4, earning the former Laval Titan standout his first win. Veilleux takes over for Denis Francoeur, who was in the middle of his tenth season behind the Cataractes bench. Jacques Blouin replaces Francoeur in his duties as general manager.
Screaming Eagles Winstreak Snapped
All good things come to an end, and the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles' nine-game win streak was no exception. The impressive run was halted by the Saint John Sea Dogs on Oct. 30 with a 2-0 shutout. The Eagles were not phased by the setback, winning their next three while recording a shutout of their own in an 8-0 win over the provincial-rival Halifax Mooseheads. The overwhelming win was coach Pascal Vincent's 200th behind the bench for the Screaming Eagles. Vincent became only the sixth coach in QMJHL history to reach the mark for the same team. Others to do so are Orval Tessier, Gaston Drapeau, Michel Bergeron, Ghislain Delage, and Denis Francoeur.
Suspended 17-Year-Olds
Christian Landry of the Baie-Comeau Drakkar was hit with the league's largest suspension so far this season for returning to the ice during an Oct. 30 game after being escorted off by an official. The 5-foot-8, 155-pound rookie was attempting to rejoin the scuffle and will now sit out 10 games. He will be eligible to return Nov. 28, against the PEI Rocket during the Drakkar's Atlantic Canadian road swing.
The PEI Rocket will be without the services of 17-year-old Joey Haddad for a pair of games as the result of a knee-on-knee hit Nov. 2 against the Acadie-Bathurst Titan. Haddad caught defenseman Mathieu Carle and will be eligible to return to the lineup on Nov. 6 against the Baie-Comeau Drakkar.
Finally, Alex Lamontagne of the Acadie-Bathurst Titan will be out of the lineup for three games after assaulting the St. John's Fog Devils' Matt Boland on Oct. 30. The defenseman will return to the Titan Nov. 8 in time to play the Saint John Sea Dogs before a pair of games in Newfoundland against Boland and the Fog Devils.
Who's Hot?
Stanislav Lascek (Chicoutimi): Recorded 8 points in 3 games this week and is currently on an 11-game point-scoring streak, the third longest in the league.
Guillaume Latendresse (Drummondville): Sophomore forward put up five points in two games for the Voltigeurs who split a pair of games this week.
Angelo Esposito (Quebec): Rookie combined with teammate Alexander Radulov for 12 points two weeks ago and followed it up with another five during a pair of games this past week.
Who's Cold?
Mathieu Aubin (Lewiston): Club's top scorer has only scored in one of last four games.
Jeremy Duchesne (Halifax): Shelled with 52 shots in a 6-5 loss on Nov. 4, but was much worse during subsequent losses to Cape Breton and Rouyn-Noranda, surrendering a combined 13 goals in 65 shots.
Jan Danecek (Victoriaville): The Tigres' top scorer was held off the board as his team managed to score only one goal this past week in a pair of games.
