QMJHL Players of the Week - Svechnikov, Slight and Ehlers

BOUCHERVILLE, Monday, January 12, 2015 - Evgeny Svechnikov, Gabriel Slight and Nikolaj Ehlers were named today, the three stars of the week for January 5 to 11, 2015.
The first star of the week is awarded to the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles' forward, Evgeny Svechnikov. In 3 games, he scored three goals, added 6 assists and maintained a +4 rating. The Screaming Eagles won all of their three games this week. The first one came against the Gatineau Olympiques on Wednesday. Svechnikov finished the game with two goals and two assists in the 5-4 victory. In the first of two games against the Acadie-Bathurst Titan, he got 4 points for a second game in a row in an 8-1 win. He completed the week with one goal in a 4-0 win. He is now tied for third in the rookie scoring race with 46 points.

Gabriel Slight, the Shawinigan Cataractes forward, is the second star of the week. He earned 7 points, including three goals in two games. Of his three goals, 2 were game winners. He scored the game winner in overtime against the Sherbrooke Phoenix on Wednesday. Saturday against the Victoriaville Tigres, he was named the first star in a 7-5 win. He also recorded personal bests in points (5) and assists (3) in a single game.
The Halifax Mooseheads' forward, Nikolaj Ehlers is the third star of the week. He scored 4 goals, assisted on 2 and had a +5 rating in 2 games. Friday, he was named the first star with a 4 points performance while his team beat the Gatineau Olympiques 6-3. He scored his 20th goal of the season which ended up being the game winner in a 3-1 win over the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada. He now has a 17 game point streak and has the best points per game average in the league at 2.12.
