QMJHL Players of the Week - Martel, Tkachev and Kostalek

BOUCHERVILLE, Monday, February 9, 2015 - Danick Martel, Vladimir Tkachev and Jan Kostalek were named today, the three stars of the week for February 2 to 8, 2015.

The first star of the week is awarded to the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada forward, Danick Martel. In three games, he scored seven goals, including three game-winning goals and maintained a +6 rating. Tuesday against the Chicoutimi Saguenéens, he managed his fourth hat trick of the season in a 4-2 win. He scored another two goals against the Gatineau Olympiques on Saturday. Sunday, against the Victoriaville Tigres, he helped his team take the first place overall by scoring 2 goals in the win. He now has 86 points, which ranks him second among the League's leading scorers.

The Quebec Remparts forward, Vladimir Tkachev is the second star of the week. He scored 4 goals, added 3 assists and maintained a +3 rating in 3 games. He began his week with a three point performance in a 7-4 victory over the Gatineau Olympiques. Friday against the Shawinigan Cataractes, he delivered another 3 point game to help his team win 6-2. He was named the first star of the game in both meetings.

The Rimouski Oceanic defenseman, Jan Kostalek is the third star of the week. In three road games, he managed three assists and maintained a +3 rating. He wasn't on the ice for any of the opponent's goals, facing the opposing teams' best players. He managed an assist on the winning goal that allowed his team to win the game 3-2 on the Moncton Wildcats. Saturday, against the Cap-Breton Screaming Eagles, the Oceanic's defensive core only allowed 23 shots in a 4-3 shootout loss.
