QMJHL Players of the Week - Lascek Joyal

Stanislav Lascek, for the second straight week, and Maxime Joyal get the QMJHL weekly honours.
LONGUEUIL, Monday October 11th, 2004 (QMJHL) – Hockey players from the Quebec Major Junior League seem so satisfied with being named Player of the week that they try to be selected two straight times. And for two of them, it has worked!

After P.E.I. Rocket goalkeeper Jonathan Boutin, Chicoutimi Saguenéens Stanislav Lascek finds himself under the spotlight for a second straight time, as the Offensive Player of the week for the period starting on Monday October 4th and ending on Sunday October 10th.
The QMJHL also honoured goaltender Maxime Joyal, of the Québec Remparts, by selecting him as the Defensive Player of the week.
Lascek, a Slovakia-born forward, obtained eight points, including two goals, in four games, all played in the Maritimes.
In Charlottetown on Saturday night, Lascek was the star of the Saguenéens 7-3 win against the Rocket by getting one goal and two assists.
Then on Sunday, in Moncton, the 18 year-old right winger added one goal and three helpers in the Saguenéens 5-4 loss to the Wildcats.
On Wednesday, in a 3-0 victory over the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles, he had recorded one assist.
Lascek’s performances helped him jump to the top of the scoring race in the QMJHL with 24 points in 12 games.
Lascek, was selected over Zbynek Hrdel (2-3-2-5) of the Rimouski Océanic, Jan Danecek (3-3-1-4) of the Victoriaville Tigres and Viatcheslav Trukhno (3-3-1-4) of the P.E.I. Rocket.
As for the Defensive award, Joyal ended the week with a 1-1-1 record in three road games.
In this stretch, during which his teammates scored only five times, Joyal allowed only five goals to opposing teams.
In those three games, Joyal faced 111 shots, an average of 36.3 per contest. He had a save percentage of .955 and a goals against average of 1.64.
In a 2-0 loss to the Wildcats, on Thursday, Joyal stopped 45 shots.
The following night, he contributed to the Remparts 4-2 victory over the Rocket by making 23 saves.
Then, on Saturday in Sydney, he shone once again, blocking 38 shots to help his team salvage a 1-1 tie against the Screaming Eagles.
Joyal was named ahead of defenceman Nicolas Marcotte (4-3-2-5) of the Saguenéens, goalkeeper Jason Churchill (1-1-0; 119,25 MP; 0,50 GAA; ,977 SP) of the Mooseheads, and goaltender Julien Ellis (2-0-0; 120 MP; 1,50 GAA; ,951 SP) of the Shawinigan Cataractes.
