QMJHL Players of the Week - Garland, Gauthier and McDonald

BOUCHERVILLE, Monday, November 17th, 2014 - Conor Garland, Julien Gauthier and Mason McDonald were named today, the three stars of the week for November 10 to 16, 2014.
For the second week in a row, Moncton Wildcats forward, Conor Garland is the first star of the week. In three games, he totalled 5 goals, 8 assists and had a +9 rating. He started his week with 2 goals and 2 assists against the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles. He was named the first star of the game and his team won 7-4. Friday against the Victoriaville Tigres, he and linemate Ivan Barbashev both had 6 points in the game which tied a team record for most points in a single game. The team won the game handily 8-3 and Conor was named the first star of the game. Against the Drummondville Voltigeurs, Saturday, he added 3 more assists and brought his streak of consecutive games with a least a point to 11, but unfortunately his team lost 5-4 in a shootout. He now has 42 points and is currently second in the league, 2 behind league leader Alexis Loiseau.

The second star of the week is Julien Gauthier, forward for the Val-d'Or Foreurs. The 2016 NHL draft eligible player, had 3 goals on ten shots, added 5 assists, 4 checks and maintained a +5 rating in 2 games. Against the Shawinigan Cataractes, he scored three goals and added two assists for a career high 5 points. He was named the first star and his team won the game 7-4. Sunday, against the Quebec Remparts, he tallied 3 assists and maintained a +3 rating. The Foreurs won the game 7-4. He is now leading his team with 29 points.
Charlottetown Islanders' goaltender, Mason McDonald, is the third star of the game. He faced 53 shots over two games and let in only 2 goals for a goals against average of 1.00 and a save percentage of .962. Against the Victoriaville Tigres on Saturday, he stopped 28 of 29 shots for a 2-1 victory. Sunday,against the Drummondville Voltigeurs, he made 23 saves for a 5-1 win. His goals against average of 2.78 an his save percentage of .913 places him in the top tier of league.
