QMJHL Players of the Week - Ehlers, Martel and Fleschler

BOUCHERVILLE, Monday, December 1, 2014 - Nikolaj Ehlers, Danick Martel and Joe Fleschler were named today, the three stars of the week for November 24 to 30, 2014.
The first star of the week is the Halifax Mooseheads forward, Nikolaj Ehlers. He had an incredible week improving on 4 of his personal highs. In three games, he participated in 13 of the 18 goals scored by his team. This week he scored 5 goals, added 8 assists and had a +5 rating. In his first game of the week Thursday against the Shawinigan Cataractes, he contributed 5 assists, a new personal best, in a 6-3 win. Saturday, against the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies, he tallied 6 points including 4 goals on 13 shots, 3 new personal highs for the first star of the game. He managed two more points Sunday in a 6-4 loss against the Val-d'Or Foreurs. He is currently on a 13 game streak with at least one point, if he gets one point in his next game, it will be a new personnel high for him. He now has 43 points in 21 games, which is good for fourth among league leaders.

Danick Martel, the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada forward, is the second star of the week. In three road games, he managed 3 goals and added 6 assists. Thursday against the Acadie-Bathurst Titan, he was named the third star of the game with a performance of three assists in a 4-1 win. He was named the first star of the game on Friday in a 2-1 shootout loss to the Saint John Sea Dogs. Martel generated a quarter of the 24 shots on goal for his team. He was once again named the first star of game Sunday against the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles. In that game, he had a career-high five points, including three goals in a 6-3 win. It's worth noting that 13 of his 18 goals were scored on the road.
The Drummondville Voltigeurs' goaltender, Joe Fleschler, is the third star of the week. The 19 year old maintained a goals against average of 1.68, a save percentage of .939 and record of 2 wins and one loss. Against the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies on Wednesday, he made 25 saves in a 5-3 win. Saturday, against the Baie-Comeau Drakkar, he was named the first star of the game with 24 saves in a 2-1 overtime win. He was once again named the first star of the game Sunday in a 3-0 loss against the Chicoutimi Saguenéens. He stopped 28 out of 29 shots. It should be noted that 2 of the 3 Chicoutimi goals were scored into an empty net.
