QMJHL Players of the Week - Crosby Boutin

LONGUEUIL, Monday September 27th, 2004 (QMJHL) – Centerman Sidney Crosby of the Rimouski Oceanic and goaltender Jonathan Boutin of the P.E.I. Rocket were the first offensive and defensive players of the week in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League in the 2004-05 season, for the period covering September 16th through the 26th.
During those 11 days, Crosby collected 18 points, including 14 assists, and helped the Oceanic registered four wins in five games.

Crosby contributed in 18 of the 28 goals the Oceanic scored during those five games, for a ratio of 64 per cent.
Sunday afternoon, on a day dedicated to Vincent Lecavalier and Brad Richards at the Rimouski Coliseum, the 17 year-old from Cole Harbour Nova Scotia, tied two career highs with six points and five assists. In 2003-04, during his rookie season, Crosby had two six point games.
Since the start of his young career, Crosby has already been selected Offensive player of the week seven times. Last year, he also got the honour for the first period of activities in the league.
Crosby was selected ahead of Maxime Boisclair (5-6-11) of the Chicoutimi Sagueneens, Steve Bernier (6-3-9) of the Moncton Wildcats, and Dany Roussin (6-3-9) of the Oceanic.
On defense, Jonathan Boutin, of the Rocket, deserved the title after recording three wins and one tie in four games.
The 19 year-old goalie faced 95 shots and allowed five goals in a little more than 247 minutes of play, for a 1,21 goals against average. His save efficiency was 94.7%
Boutin beat defensemen Patrick Coulombe (0-10-10), of the Oceanic, and Sam Roberts (5-2-7), of the Gatineau Olympiques, as well as goalie Jason Churchill (1-0-3; 255 MinP; 1,88 GAA; ,934 SE) of the Halifax Mooseheads.
