Josh Hennessy and Richard Stehlik are the players of the week
(LONGUEUIL, Monday December 8, 2003) - The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League announces today its offensive and defensive players of the week ended Sunday December 7, 2003.

The left-handed centre of the Quebec Remparts, Josh Hennessy, is the offensive player of the week in the QMJHL. This native from Rockland Massachusetts scored five goals and collected three passes for a total of eight points in three games. Josh Hennessy scored a winning goal and got a differential of +4 at the three wins of his team.
In a 6-4 victory Wednesday December 3 in Rimouski against the Oceanic and Crosby, Hennessy scored a goal establishing a 4-4 tie with less than five minutes in the third period. In a 6-2 victory Friday against the Oceanic in front of the best crowd of the season at the Pepsi Colisee where 14,780 spectators gathered, Josh Hennessy scored three goals and registered one assist. Last Saturday against the Halifax Mooseheads in a 6-3 win, the player who belongs to the San Jose Sharks scored one goal and registered two assists.
Further to this excellent week, the Remparts now rank second of the East division with 31 points, two ahead of the Chicoutimi Sagueneens; the only team above them is the Rimouski Oceanic with 41 points.
The other offensive players nominated are Alexei Shkotov (Quebec Remparts), Yvan Busque (Chicoutimi Sagueneens) and Sidney Crosby (Rimouski Oceanic).
Richard Stehlik of the Lewiston MAINEiacs is the defensive player of the week in the Courteau circuit. The left-handed defenseman scored two goals and collected three assists for a total of five points and a differential of +4.
In spite of the 38 shots at the goal and 22 allowed, the Lewiston MAINEiacs lost the game 5-3 last Thursday against the Val d’Or Foreurs; Stehlik had four shots. Last Friday evening, in a 4-3 win against the Drummondville Voltigeurs, Richard Stehlik scored one goal and added two assists (+2); the Slovakian player also had an assist on the winning goal of the game scored by Sheldon Wenzel while there was one second left to the third period. Mid-way in the second period, Richard Stehlik had scored his fifth goal of the season and thus reduced the margin to 3-2. In a 9-3 win against the Victoriaville Tigres Sunday, he scored one goal and registered one assist with a differential of +3. He netted a securing goal as the score was 4-3 for Lewiston while there were 33 seconds left to play in the second period. This was his sixth of the season. Finally, Stehlik also collected the assist on the goal that stepped the score up to 6-3 with 15 seconds left in the second period.
Richard Stehlik leads the Lewiston MAINEiacs with a differential of +11. The MAINEiacs will play their next game this Friday December 12 in Rimouski.
The other defensive players nominated for the honours of the week were Nicolas Marcotte (Chicoutimi Sagueneens), Martin Houle (Cape-Breton Screaming Eagles) and Philippe Séguin (Rouyn-Noranda Huskies).
