QMJHL: King Jordan of Rimouski

With the Memorial Cup being held in Rimouski, the Oceanic were optimistic this season and with a mostly veteran lineup plus a few good youngsters, they had every reason to be. Unfortunately, due to injuries during the regular season and being eliminated by the Drummondville Voltigeurs during the playoffs, things did not exactly go as planned. McKeen's correspondent Rick Springhetti reports on the Rimouski Oceanic.
Jordan Caron (2009), RW, Rimouski

Forward with good size .. not a very quick skater, but he does have good balance .. can get caught flatfooted at times especially in the neutral zone .. very good hockey sense helps compensate for these shortcomings .. does not hesitate to give directions to his teammates, even older players .. very good understanding of defensive zone coverage .. moves the puck forward quickly without taking chances that could put his team at a disadvantage .. underrated shot on net that he should use a little more often .. hard worker who can play with controlled intensity even in pressure situations .. has the confidence of his coaching staff, as they use him in all situations.
Gleason Fournier (2009), D, Rimouski
Very young defenseman with already two seasons under his belt .. needs to simplify his game right now, as he tries to play too much of an offensive game for his abilities .. very fast skater who can move the puck quickly and keep his head up .. sometimes tries to do too much on his own and get's caught in high-risk situations .. can cover a lot of room in his own zone using his quickness and lateral mobility, but has to react better when defensive breakdowns occur, as he tends to look around wondering what to do .. hard shot, but he should focus on getting it to the net instead of going for power .. suffered a shoulder injury at the end of the regular season and seemed a little off his game when he returned during the playoffs .. has many tools that he can work with, all he needs is experience to figure out how to use them effectively.
Marc-Andre Bourdon (Phi), D, Rimouski
Very good size to go with his skating ability make him an attractive package .. moves the puck well on the powerplay knowing when to take a chance and when it is better to back off .. also able to create space for the rest of the players on the ice .. at times, he will over handle the puck leading to mistakes but he is also quick to recover .. will need to settle down his nerves once frustration sets in, especially in the first half when the game is still in play .. has a hard shot on net that he manages to get through players leading to either deflections or a chance for a loose puck .. opponents always have to worry about his long stretch passes when he is on the ice.
Patrice Cormier (NJ), C, Rimouski
Hard-nosed player with leadership abilities .. willing to pay the price to make a play .. uses his legs to give hard hits especially near the boards .. able to push his way into the slot and makes things difficult for opponents .. not an especially graceful skater but gets to where he needs to go .. keeps passes simple but safe, not putting his team in trouble .. most of his goals come from the slot area where he is very difficult to move .. in the defensive zone, he is at his best when he is able to use his body on the puckcarrier.
Philippe Cornet (Edm), LW, Rimouski
Forward known for his vision on the ice .. can get the puck to teammates with a quick pass but more importantly, he is capable to see plays that nobody else thought of .. unfortunately, he is also known for playing too much on the perimeter .. skating is good in terms of speed , pivots very well but does this so often that he becomes predictable .. not always consistent in terms of effort .. should shoot the puck more often, as he misses too many opportunities .. needs to get back quicker to support his defensemen during transition.
Luca Cunti (TB), LW, Rimouski
Excellent stickhandler who can get the puck to his teammates at all times .. dangerous on the powerplay especially if he is given some room to come up with plays .. gets very careless with his defensive play .. can be a very effective when he is moving his feet, especially along the boards due to his superior balance and quick stick .. unfortunately, he often seems intimidated by physical play .. this may be one reason why someone with his abilities is used on the third line.
Olivier Fortier (Mtl), C, Rimouski
Missed many games this season due to a serious knee injury and the absence was felt by his team .. known for his leadership abilities .. in fact, one QJMHL insider said about him: "I have seen many captains who have made their teammates better on the ice, he also makes them better off the ice" .. will never be much of goal scorer, as he does not have that kind of hockey sense but he will always do the little things a team needs to win .. has a very good understanding of his defensive positioning .. willing to block shots from the point .. cuts the passing lanes effectively and on the forecheck, manages to put a lot of pressure on the puckcarrier without over committing .. has improved his shooting around the net, especially his release.
Logan MacMillan (Ana) LW, Rimouski
Not a very effective skater, he is very choppy with very little glide .. works hard to get loose pucks in front of the net or in the corners .. good upper body strength that he uses to push opponents off the puck .. manages to finish his checks without chasing players all over the ice and does so with regularity.. defensively, he does a good job but he has to learn to read the play better to compensate for his lack of speed.
Sebastien Piche (Det) D, Rimouski
Signed as a free agent by Detroit this season .. impressive puck distributor who can supply a lot of offense .. shots get through traffic on the net especially his one-timers .. is not usually a sitting target on the point moving around from one end to the other making himself open for a pass .. good skating style but will need to continue developing physically to improve his speed .. average-sized player who does not have the power to lay out a player with a hard hit but will simply use his body to take opponents off the puck.. has a tendency of making mental mistakes when pressured .. looks like he ran out of gas a little at the end of the season.
Keven Veilleux (Pit) C/RW, Rimouski
Very tall and lanky player with a bullet of a shot that it deadly accurate .. used at the point on the powerplay where he simply tries to get his hard one-timer off .. can pick up speed very quickly for a player his size .. deadly near the opposing net .. very selfish player in terms of effort and maturity on the ice, especially when it comes to getting retaliation penalties .. coaching staff had to put the pressure on him to give a better effort .. could be very effective in his own zone if he got himself involved more physically.
