McKeens: When did you start playing hockey?
Risto Korhonen: I started playing hockey when I was six years old.
McKeens: Where did you start playing hockey?
Risto Korhonen: I played for Kaajanin Hokki first, then I went on to play for Karpat Oulu.
McKeens: Who directed your first hockey steps?
Risto Korhonen: My father brought me to hockey. Even if he didn't play organised hockey, he wanted me to pursue a hockey career.
McKeens: Did you always play defense?
Risto Korhonen: Yeah, I didn't feel the need of changing it.
McKeens: What is your biggest success in hockey so far?
Risto Korhonen: I think that my biggest success so far was making the last year's Finnish WJC squad as an underager.
McKeens: Who is your hockey role model?
Risto Korhonen: I amdire Scott Stevens from the New Jersey Devils because of his tough, physical play.
McKeens: Your favorite NHL team?
Risto Korhonen: Actually, I don't have any favorite NHL team, so I can't answer this question.
McKeens: Do you have a favorite number you like to wear on your jersey?
Risto Korhonen: I always played with number 4 on my back, so it is my favorite number.
McKeens: How would you describe yourself as a player?
Risto Korhonen: I can handle physical play quite well and have good shooting skills. I have to improve on my mobility and puckhandling skills.
McKeens: Have you had any injury in your previous career?
Risto Korhonen: No, I didn't have.
McKeens: What are your goals for the upcoming season?
Risto Korhonen: I would like to play at the Under-18 WJC once again, last year's experience was very good.
McKeens: What do you do in your free time?
Risto Korhonen: I like to hang out with my friends or listen to rock music.
McKeens: Do you have a nickname?
Risto Korhonen: My nickname is Rise, from my first name.
McKeens: And your hockey dreams?
Risto Korhonen: I would like to play in the NHL someday.
