Prospect Report: Anton Kadeykin

Anton
Kadeykin - New Jersey Devils

A stay-at-home defenseman with potential for a two-way game, Anton is adjusting
slowly to the North American game. Blessed with good size and overall skills,
Kadeykin can be a bulligerent defender with a nasty streak and a penchant for
the big hit. He always opts for the safe play and stays well back on a rush.
He does tend to use his defensive partner as a crutch, electing to pass the
puck off rather than making an outlet pass or carrying the puck himself. His
game currently shows many flaws, often struggling in the transition game and
having difficulty with faster opponents in one-on-one situations. He has a tendancy
to get caught running around in his own zone. Anton has a bullet of a slap-shot
from the point, keeping it low and getting it through traffic, however he rarely
uses it.
Potential is there to develop into a solid player, however time will tell whether
his shortcomings are simply due to a need for an adjustment period to the North
American game and systems.
