Entry draft. During an off year in the OHL last year in which he sported a
-30 plus minus rating. He was traded from the Guelph Storm to the North Bay
Centennials (now Saginaw Spirit). Colt is looking to rebound this year and
become a leader for Saginaw. He has 2 goals and 3 assists for 5 points in 5
games along with 14 penalty minutes so far this season and is playing with
an edge that could raise a few eyebrows in the Colorado Brass if it
continues. King was also an invitee to the National Junior Team camp this
summer We recently took a look at the way he plays the game.
Strong energy player, Colt is a competent 2 way forward who?s defense
is as good as his offense and uses his size effectively in the hitting department
A tenacious forechecker who fights in the corners with authority, his offensive
skills are still developing. King has a nice hard shot when he gets the chance
to use it but must work on his puckhandling skills as well as skating stride.
He drives to the net when the opportunity exists looking for rebounds. Colt
is still developing into his large frame and with time could become a decent
fourth line checker at the NHL level. He will have a rough time climbing Colorado's
depth chart as the Av.'s have many grinders in the system.
