Prep Notes: Nobles are Marshall

The Prep School playoffs are quickly approaching and the competition is tight with six teams in the East battling for two remaining spots. Nobles and Andover are two teams looking to sneak into the playoffs. Led by Matt Marshall, Nobles proved they had enough firepower to stay in the race with a 9-3 win over BB&N. Andover had to battle back in the third period to tie the game against Governor's Academy, but could not do enough to get the win, which could be a loss of costly points.

Committed to BU for 2008 .. a decent game against a much weaker team in BB&N but should have dominated more .. had only one assist in a 9-3 win .. has shifty and quick moves … loves to shoot the puck, but seems to go high .. played in all situations (PP/PK) .. handles the puck well and can get through traffic with the puck .. definite leader on this young Nobles team .. leads the team in scoring with 23 goals 21 assists and 44 points (as of 2/14/08).
Nick Resor (2008) Noble & Greenough School, F (SR)
Like this kid more and more every viewing .. good size (6-2, 205) .. had two goals in a blowout win against BB&N .. just always seems to be in the best spot for scoring and always gives a consistent effort .. his first goal came off a quick deke and put it five-hole .. second goal came off a tip-in from Pallis' shot from the point .. helps out defensively and always is in good position to break-up passes .. his stats so far this year are - eight goals three assists and 11 points (as of 2/14/08) .. goes right to the front of the net on the PP and uses his size effectively .. could be a Division I player.
Matt Marshall (TB) Noble & Greenough School, F (SR)
Committed to Vermont for 2008 .. tremendous skater and pro-like with a long, powerful, wide stride .. has size and strength (6-1, 175) .. showed a good outside/inside move that proved effective against BB&N .. controlling the puck more than last viewing which is good .. had two goals and one assist in the game .. scored on a weak slapshot that should had been stopped .. his stats so far this year are - 23 goals 20 assists 43 points (as of 2/14/08) .. looks ready for the college level.
Derrick Pallis (2008) Noble & Greenough School, D (SR)
Ranked No. 139 on Central Scouting's Mid-Term Ranking .. committed to Princeton for 2008 .. 1989 DOB (Sep) .. size (6-1, 175) .. has very good poise and looked more like the prospect from a few years ago .. sent Resor on a partial breakaway with a deadly accurate long pass from his own zone .. vocal on the ice and on the PP, really slows things down with his poise .. not the hardest shot but gets pucks to the net and shoots for rebounds and tips .. lacks that extra gear with the puck, but has the ability to take the puck himself .. had two assists in the game .. his stats so far this year are - four goals 33 assists 37 points (as of 2/14/08) .. could see him being a late round pick, but also would not be surprised if he was passed over this year.
Andrew Cox (2008) Phillips Andover, F (SR)
Committed to Holy Cross for 2008 .. captain .. really jump started his team after a slow first period .. despite decent size, he is not afraid to get involved physically and works hard in the corners … has really put up good numbers this year and shown he can contribute offensively .. against Governor's, he had two goals and two assists and his line was in on all four Andover goals and personally responsible for helping Andover battle back from a 4-2 deficit to tie the game .. centered a line with senior JJ McGregor and impressive sophomore Chris Kreider (a definite player to watch – scored the other two goals) .. leads the team in scoring with 18 goals 28 assists and 46 points (as of 2/14/08).
Bobby Farnham (2008) Phillips Andover, F (SR)
Committed to Brown for 2008 .. assistant captain .. a strong skater with a wide stride and very good speed .. handles the puck well and has quick hands .. willing to go through traffic to get to the net with the puck .. over-handles the puck a bit trying to shake checks in the corners when he could dish the puck and get open .. should be a solid addition to Brown's team next year and be able to instantly help their offense .. against Governor's, he was held pointless but created numerous scoring chances, especially in the third period .. his stats so far this year are - 17 goals 26 assists 43 points (as of 2/14/08).
Dan Mazzei (2009), F, BB&N (SO)
A 1990 DOB (Oct) .. decent size (6-0, 190) .. received a lot of icetime and relied heavily on the PK - also used at the point on the PP .. leads BB&N in goals with 18 and second in points with 35 (as of 2/14/08) .. skating has improved but still needs some work .. lacks the strength behind his stride and only has decent speed .. has a quick release and good offensive instincts .. needs to get stronger on his skates and tougher in the corners.
Stephen Wadsworth (2008), F, BB&N (JR)
1989 DOB (Nov) .. good size and strength (6-2, 205) .. uses his size well and plays a physical in-your-face style .. goes hard to the net and knocks down anything in his way .. had a few big hits and tried to energize his team .. scored to make it 3-2 early in the second, but it was all down hill for BB&N after that .. his goal came when he was standing in front of the net and banged home a rebound .. has 14 goals eight assists 22 points on the season (as of 2/14/08).
