McKeens: When and where did you start playing hockey?

A.J. Thelen: I started in my hometown of Prior Lake MN, (at) about the age 4.
McKeens: Is there any particular person who has been influential in your development?
A.J. Thelen: I'd have to say my family, but mainly my father (Mark).
McKeens: Are there any players in the NHL you watch and admire?
A.J. Thelen: Rob Blake
McKeens: What do you love most about playing hockey?
A.J. Thelen: Scoring, big hits, just making fans jump out of their seat.
McKeens: What do you consider your biggest success in hockey so far?
A.J. Thelen: Finishing my freshman year like I did (only freshman on the All-America squad).
McKeens: How would you describe the experience being selected by Minnesota in the 2004 NHL Draft?
A.J. Thelen: Unreal. I never really played in front of Minnesota fans. It will be a great honor.
McKeens: What are your strengths and weaknesses?
A.J. Thelen: All around game, offensive stand point, foot speed, faster decisions.
McKeens: Is there anything you feel you need to improve upon to make it to the next level?
A.J. Thelen: A little bit of everything. Get stronger, and faster.
McKeens: How you would describe yourself to someone who has never seen you play?
A.J. Thelen: Fun to watch, very up-tempo, plays at both ends, creates chances.
McKeens: Do you have any pre-game superstitions?
A.J. Thelen: Not really. I just get as prepared as possible.
McKeens: Do you enjoy any other sport besides hockey?
A.J. Thelen: Golf.
McKeens: What are your hobbies; things that you do in your free time?
A.J. Thelen: Fish, golf, fourwheeling, movies, (hanging) out with my friends.
McKeens: Do you have a nickname?
A.J. Thelen: Shorty.
McKeens: What is your goal for 2004-05 season with Michigan State?
A.J. Thelen: Top the year before, get better with every game, and help my team make it to the NCAA (finals).
