OHL Players of the Month - McDavid, DeAngelo, Halverson Brown

Toronto, ON - The Ontario Hockey League today announced the Top OHL Performers of the Month for February 2015, including forward Connor McDavid of the Erie Otters, Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds defenceman Anthony DeAngelo and goaltender Brandon Halverson, and rookie Logan Brown of the Windsor Spitfires.

Erie Otters forward Connor McDavid is the OHL Player of the Month for February after he recorded 13 goals, 20 assists and 32 points with a plus-minus rating of plus-9 in 12 games as part of a current 24-game point streak that dates back to November 7. McDavid's month featured 10 multi-point games including his first career OHL hat-trick when he posted a career-high six points against Guelph on February 25. A goal and an assist on February 27 in Owen Sound made him the fourth player this season to reach the 100-point mark, needing just 38 games to accomplish the feat.
The top prospect for the 2015 NHL Draft, McDavid continues to turn heads this season with 37 goals, 65 assists, 102 points and a plus-minus rating of plus-46 in 39 games. In addition to his outstanding play in the OHL this season, the Newmarket, ON, native won gold with the Canadian National Junior Team, scoring three goals and eight assists in seven tournament games. McDavid also suited up for Team Orr in the 2015 BMO CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game on January 22, picking up an assist and a plus-minus rating of plus-3 in a 6-0 win.
OHL Defenceman of the Month - Anthony DeAngelo (Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds):
Also named the Pioneer Energy OHL Player of the Week on Monday, Tampa Bay Lightning prospect Anthony DeAngelo continues to produce for the Western Conference leading Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds. The native of Sewell, New Jersey is on a current 19-game point streak that dates back to January 10 and accrued five goals, 14 assists and 19 points in 10 February games with a league-high plus-minus rating of plus-15 to be named the OHL's Defenceman of the Month. DeAngelo led the way on February 6, recording a goal and three assists in a big 6-1 win over the Erie Otters and also tallied three points in victories over North Bay and Windsor later in the month. DeAngelo has recorded 10 goals, 29 assists and 39 points in 20 games since joining the Greyhounds in January.
DeAngelo currently leads all OHL defencemen in scoring with 20 goals, 57 assists and 77 points in 49 games. The 5'11", 177Ib fleet-footed blueliner is currently in his fourth OHL season and represented the United States in the 2015 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship, recording two goals and an assist in five tournament contests. He was Tampa Bay's first round, 19th overall pick in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.
OHL Rookie of the Month - Logan Brown (Windsor Spitfires):
6'5", 215Ib centreman Logan Brown, who turns 17 years-old on Thursday, has been named the OHL's Rookie of the Month for February. Brown provided the Windsor Spitfires with five goals, eight assists and 13 points in 11 February contests as they continue their pursuit of a playoff spot in the Western Conference. The big forward started the month off productively, earning first star honours on February 5 with two goals and an assist against Owen Sound. The Chesterfield, MO, native picked up another three points with a trio of helpers on February 16 against Guelph. Brown had points in nine of his 11 February contests, helping keep the Spits alive in the Western Conference.
A prospect for the 2016 NHL Draft, Brown has made the most of his rookie season in the OHL, scoring 17 goals along with 25 assists for 42 points in 53 games. The son of Ottawa 67's coach and former NHL blueliner Jeff Brown, the imposing forward is currently third in Spitfires team scoring.
Vaughn OHL Goaltender of the Month - Brandon Halverson (Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds):
Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds goaltender Brandon Halverson is the Vaughn OHL Goaltender of the Month for February, going 8-1-0-0 with a goals-against average of 2.00, a .933 save percentage and two shutouts. The New York Rangers prospect helped the Greyhounds maintain their Western Conference lead with back-to-back shutouts on February 14 and 16 to earn CHL Goaltender of the Week honours. Halverson is on a current eight game winning streak that dates back to February 11 and saw the Hounds clinch their second consecutive West Division title. The 6'4", 188Ib sophomore goaltender was busy in the month of February, starting nine games while making at least 30 saves in five victories.
A native of Traverse City, MI, Halverson is in his second full season with the Greyhounds after being the club's seventh round selection in the 2012 OHL Priority Selection. Halverson was the New York Rangers' second round, 59th overall pick in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft and represented the United States in the 2015 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship. He currently sits second among OHL goaltenders with 34 wins on the season with a 2.73 goals-against average and .912 save percentage in 43 games.
