OHL Player of the Week - Mitchell Marner

Toronto, ON - The Ontario Hockey League today announced that 2015 NHL Draft prospect Mitchell Marner of the London Knights is the Pioneer Energy OHL Player of the Week for the playoff week ending April 5, leading the league with nine points in four games scoring three goals and six assists with a plus-minus rating of plus-2.
Marner earns his fourth weekly award this time for helping the Knights advance to the Western Conference Semi-Finals after defeating the Kitchener Rangers in six games. Marner led the Knights to a 3-0 series cushion last Tuesday night with an impressive six-point performance scoring twice with four assists as first star of a 10-6 road win. He collected a goal on Thursday in a 5-4 loss in Game 4, then an assist on Friday in a 6-3 loss in Game 5, before finishing the series with an assist on Sunday in the Knights' 5-0 Game 6 victory. The Knights will now face the Erie Otters with second round action beginning on Thursday April 9.

Marner, a 17-year-old from Thornhill, ON, is playing in his second OHL season with the Knights who chose him in the first round of the 2013 OHL Priority Selection. Eligible for the 2015 NHL Draft, Marner leads the OHL playoff scoring race with 15 points in six games after finishing second in regular season scoring with 126 points in 63 games.
Also considered for the award this week was New Jersey Devils prospect Joseph Blandisi of the Barrie Colts with eight points in three games against the Belleville Bulls scoring four goals and four assists, while New York Islanders prospect Josh Ho-Sang of the Niagara IceDogs scored a goal and seven assists for eight points in four games against the Ottawa 67's. In goal, Justin Nichols of the Guelph Storm made 110 saves with a 3-0 record against the Owen Sound Attack posting a goals-against-average of 1.29 and save percentage of .965.
