OHL Player of the Week - Mark Scheifele

Toronto, ON - The Ontario Hockey League today announced that forward Mark Scheifele of the Barrie Colts is the OHL Player of the Week for the playoff week ending May 5 after scoring a goal and three assists for four points in three games with a plus-minus rating of plus-2.
Scheifele picked up two assists in a 3-1 victory over the Belleville Bulls in Game 7 of the Rogers Eastern Conference Championship Series last Monday night helping the Colts win their fourth Bobby Orr Trophy in franchise history. The Colts then advanced to the Rogers OHL Championship Series for the Robertson Cup against the London Knights and opened the best-of-seven series with a 4-2 victory in London on Friday night with Scheifele collecting a goal and an assist. The Knights evened the series on Sunday night earning a 4-1 victory, with Game 3 scheduled for Monday night in Barrie.

Scheifele, a 20-year-old from Kitchener, ON, is playing in his third OHL season with the Colts. The Winnipeg Jets prospect selected in the first round of the 2011 NHL Draft currently leads the 2013 OHL Playoffs in scoring with 29 points in 17 games after finishing the regular season with 79 points in 45 games.
Also considered for the award this week were London Knights' forwards Seth Griffith and Bo Horvat. Griffith scored twice with an assist for three points in two games, while Horvat picked up a goal and an assist for two points in two games. In goal, the Colts' Mathias Niederberger went 2-1-0-0 with a goals-against-average of 2.01 and save percentage of .952.
