OHL Player of the Week - Ken Appleby

Toronto, ON - The Ontario Hockey League today announced that goaltender Ken Appleby of the Oshawa Generals is the Pioneer Energy OHL Player of the Week for the playoff week ending May 10 after posting a 2-0 record with a goals-against-average of 1.00 and save percentage of .962.
Appleby made 50 saves in two starts between the pipes backstopping the Generals to a 2-0 series lead against the Erie Otters in the Rogers OHL Championship Series for the Robertson Cup. Appleby's efforts helped limit the Otters' high-powered offense to single goal outputs for the first time in the post-season. He made 18 saves on Friday night in Game 1 as part of the Generals' 4-1 victory, then earned first star honours in Game 2 on Saturday with a 32-save performance in the 5-1 triumph for his fifth-straight playoff victory and league-high 14th win of the post-season. The series continues with Game 3 on Monday and Game 4 Wednesday night in Erie.

His regular season record of 38-7-0-4 set a new club mark for wins in a season while tying for the league lead with six shutouts. He and partner Jeremy Brodeur earned the Dave Pinkney Trophy allowing a league-low 157 goals-against which is also a new franchise mark.
Also considered for the award this week were a trio of Generals top offensive contributors including Vancouver Canucks prospect Cole Cassels, New York Islanders prospect Michael DalColle, and Ottawa Senators prospect Tobias Lindberg who each recorded a goal and two assists for three points in two games.
