OHL Player of the Week - Dylan Strome

Toronto, ON - The Ontario Hockey League today announced that 2015 NHL Draft prospect and OHL Top Scorer Dylan Strome of the Erie Otters is the Pioneer Energy OHL Player of the Week for the final week of the regular season ending March 22 with 12 points in three games scoring six goals and six assists with a plus-minus rating of plus-8.
Strome captured the Eddie Powers Memorial Trophy as the league's top scorer in his final game of the season Sunday with a career-high four goals and two assists as first star of an 8-7 win over the Niagara IceDogs. The six-point effort matched an Otters single-game record lifting Strome to 129 points in 68 games establishing a new franchise mark while helping the Otters win 50 games for the second straight season. His week also included a goal and an assist on Saturday as third star of a 5-1 win over the Plymouth Whalers, and a first star performance on Thursday scoring a goal and three assists in a 7-4 win over the Windsor Spitfires. This marks the fifth time an Otters' forward has earned the weekly award and second time Strome has been honoured after being recognized for his play in the season's opening week.

Stome, an 18-year-old from Mississauga, ON, is playing in his second season with the Otters after being chosen with the second overall pick in the 2013 OHL Priority Selection. Listed fifth overall among North American skaters in NHL Central Scouting's Midterm Rankings, Strome scored 45 goals and 84 assists in 68 games this season becoming the second straight Otter to win the OHL's scoring title following Connor Brown.
Also considered for the award this week was Otters' rookie Alex DeBrincat with 10 points in three games including four goals and six assists becoming the first rookie to score 50 goals in a season since Patrick Kane in 2007. Anaheim Ducks prospect Nick Ritchie of the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds also finished the season strong scoring three goals and four assists for seven points in two games. In goal, New York Rangers prospect Brandon Halverson of the Greyhounds posted a 2-0-0-0 record including a shutout victory for a goals-against-average of 0.66 and save percentage of .967. He recorded his 40th win of the season establishing a new club record while tying a team record with six shutouts for the Hounds who captured their first Hamilton Spectator Trophy in 30 years with an all-time high 110 points.
