Athanasiou earns the award for the second time this season after setting a pair of franchise records with five goals and two assists in a seven-point performance Thursday night against the Niagara IceDogs. He also became the first Colt to record seven points in a game surpassing the previous record of six points shared by Sheldon Keefe (January 7, 2000), and Steven Beyers (December 28, 2010). Athanasiou was held off the scoresheet last Monday in a 3-1 win over the Owen Sound Attack and Friday in a 3-1 loss to the Erie Otters, but finished the week by scoring his 41st goal of the season on Saturday as second star of a 2-1 win over the Peterborough Petes.
